One product review : Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics lip tar

Hi fairies,
I’ve tried Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics concealer, pigments and foundation in the last months , after wanting to try them for a long time, and I’ve been impressed with the quality, color vibrancy when it comes to pigments, lasting power and performance in general that Occ became one of my favourite brands along with Sugarpill, Mac, Too Faced, Urban Decay and others I won’t mention else I will end up with a long boring list for you to read! I had yet to try their Lip Tars, probably the products the brand is most known of, but I couldn’t make up my mind on which color to buy. Occ sorted things out for me when they came out with a new collection called Unknown Pleasures that features amazing and unusual colors! I immediately knew one of them had to be mine, because it had been too long since I wore a blue or deep purple lipstick , and it was time to do it again, that’s why I bought TechnoPagan!

Let’s see how Lip Tars are described: From the innovators behind the cult-favorite liquid lipstick LIP TAR™, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics unleashes a range of shades and textures that explores the boundaries between light and shadow. ‘Unknown Pleasures’ is OCC’s Fall/Winter Colour Collection brings six all-new LIP TAR™ shades.
Contains Organic Hemp Oil & Soy-Derived Vitamin E, for a finish that feels as good as it looks! Paraben-Free courtesy of refreshing Peppermint Oil.100% Vegan & Cruelty-Free. Price 18.00 $ - 12.00 £ for  0.33 OZ.

What I like: first thing worth mentioning is Lip Tars are a unique lip products, they can’t be compared to lip tints, lip stains or lipsticks, they are different from all of them and you need to try one to understand what I mean. They come in a see through tube that allows you to see the color and to keep an eye on how much product is left, and I like that; it’s easy to get the product out as it’s got a tiny hole that will save you from getting dirty and messy hands, and there also is a lip brush in a travel size , which is actually a good brush, I’ve been using it a lot to apply lip tar. The texture is a bit sticky , not runny and not too thick, it’s easy to work with it and pick it with a brush. I usually put a dot of product on my hand and then I pick it with a brush, it’s the best way in my opinion; it’s also very important not to apply more lip tar than it’s needed, because if you do that it will bleed and smudge even if you applied a lip pencil underneath! Technopagan is a unique metallic shade that looks blue at first glance, but when it’s on it turns into a deep, rich and very pigmented purple, and I love it! It is very pigmented and it applies beautifully , without patches or stripes, and that’s rare for metallic finish lipsticks! Coverage is amazing, color pay off is great, lasting power is really long, around 8 hours without fading nor bleeding , it’s a high quality product and it’s well worth the money you pay for it. It’s got a slight mint scent, not too overwhelming, I like it , it’s pleasant, and basically I read they used peppermint oil in the formula instead of parabens, so I think we can put up with a light mint scent to get a natural product!

What I don’t like : as lip tars are unique , it’s important to understand the best way to apply them and the right amount you need, because if you don’t you will hate them: they will bleed, they won’t stay in place and you will think they’re not good products, but the truth is they are excellent products when used properly. I will never get tired to say you don’t need more than a dot of product to cover all your lips, you have to use a lip brush to evenly distribute it and you’ll see it’s so pigmented it will be enough!if applied correctly it will be very long lasting and it will stay in place all day!

My verdict: I’m so happy with my purchase, it’s not an everyday color I know, but I wore it anyway , and it can be also toned down by mixing it with pink or lavender, you could add a drop of it to a fuchsia lipstick to deepen it, or to a red one to get a deep red shade, there are so many ways to use it! I’m impressed with the texture , the coverage and the metallic finish that isn’t too much, it just gives the lip tar the right amount of shine it needs to look vibrant! I’m definitely going to try other shades!

Italian version:

Ciao fatine,
