Spooky Halloween nail art

Hi fairies,

This year I didn’t have time to do Halloween nail arts for this month due to unexpected family issues, but I did this one last minute because my nails had to be scary tonight when I go trick or treating!

I used a black nail polish on all my nails and I added a coat of iridescent glitter nail polish. On my middle and ring finger I drew two oval shapes in yellow, and I added a vertical black pupil in each eye. On the rest of my nails I drew some tiny yellow eye, and that was it, Happy Halloween everybody!

Quest’anno non ho avuto tempo di realizzare delle nail art per Halloween e di proporvele nell’arco del mese per via di problemi familiari improvvisi, ma all’ultimo minuto ho comunque realizzato una nail art perché le mie unghie dovevano essere in tema quando andrò in giro stasera a chiedere “dolcetto o scherzetto”!

Ho usato uno smalto nero su tutte le unghie e ho aggiunto una passata di smalto con glitter iridescenti. Sul medio e sull’anulare ho disegnato due ovali gialli al cui interno ho aggiunto una pupilla nera verticale. Sulle altre unghie ho dipinto dei piccoli occhi gialli, ed è tutto, passate un felice Halloween!

One product review nyx epic ink liner

Eyeliner is, for me, one of my must have, even when I barely put makeup on I can’t skip eyeliner, it really changes my eye shape and it brings attention to my eyes, I love it! I prefer liquid liner with a brush as an applicator because it’s easier for me to control the thickness of the line I’m going to draw and because it’s really hard to find a good felt tip liner, but I’ve heard talking about nyx one so much that I decided to buy it!

What I like: it’s a felt tip liner with a very fine tip that follows the eye shape easily and smoothly, it bends but it’s not too soft. It’s very pigmented and the black is intense, it writes on top of sparkly eyeshadows unlike many other felt tip liners. I can draw a thick or a thin line by pressing the tip on my eyes, it’s easy to have control on that. It’s waterproof and it doesn’t smudge nor fade away during the day, and it doesn’t set into fine lines we have on our lids. I love it! It’s comparable to Kat von D felt tip liner, but it’s half the price, I think the kat von D one is a bit blacker than this one but trust me, this one is very pigmented!

What I don’t like: for the price point it gives you high quality, a product that is easy to use and that works really well so I can’t find any cons to this amazing felt tip liner! It is my favorite felt tip liner so far, I highly recommend it!

my verdict: definitely a must have, I would suggest it to beginners because it’s really easy to draw a neat line, it’s awesome!

L’eyeliner è, per me, un must have, anche quando mi trucco pochissimo non riesco a rinunciarci, cambia notevolmente la forma dell’occhio e concentra l’attenzione sullo sguardo, io lo amo! Preferisco l’eyeliner liquido con il pennellino come applicatore perché mi rimane più facile per me controllare lo spessore della linea che sto per disegnare e perché è difficilissimo trovare un buon eyeliner con la punta in feltro, ma ho sentito talmente tanto parlare di questo di nyx che ho deciso di comprarlo!

Cosa mi piace: è un eyeliner con una sottile punta in feltro che segue la forma dell’occhio facilmente e morbidamente, si piega ma non è troppo morbido. È molto pigmentato e il nero è intenso, scrive anche sopra gli eyeliner con glitter, cosa che molti altri eyeliner di questo tipo non fanno. Riesco a decidere se tracciare una linea spessa o sottile semplicemente controllando la pressione che applico sulla palpebra, è facile controllarla. È waterproof e non sbava né perde di intensità durante la giornata, inoltre non si va a infilare nelle pieghette che abbiamo sulla palpebra. Lo adoro! È molto simile all’eyeliner di Kat von D, ma costa la metà, penso che quello di Kat von D sia di un nero ancora più intenso, ma credetemi, questo è molto pigmentato!

Cosa non mi piace: penso che per il prezzo che ha sia un prodotto di ottima qualità, facile da usare e che fa benissimo il suo lavoro quindi non riesco a trovargli dei difetti! È il mio eyeliner con punta in feltro preferito tra tutti quelli che ho provato,  lo consiglio!

Il mio verdetto: assolutamente un must have, lo consiglierei anche alle principianti perché è facilissimo disegnare una linea precisa, è eccezionale!

Retro mosaic nail art

I love history of art and I thought it would have been cool to try to do a nail art similar to a mosaic, because it didn’t even have to be too precise so it would have been fun!

I painted my nails with a white nail polish, and then I outlined my index, middle and ring finger in black. Using black I traced lines all over my nails to recreate the shape of mosaic pieces, I basically crossed lines in no particular order. I then filled in the shapes with two bright shades. I applied glitter on the rest of my nails, and that was it, I hope you like it!

Amo la storia dell’arte e ho pensato che sarebbe stato divertente provare a realizzare una nail art che ricordasse un mosaico, perchè oltretutto non avrebbe nemmeno dovuto essere precisa!

Ho usato uno smalto bianco su tutte le unghie, e poi ho contornato l’indice, il medio e l’anulare di nero. Sempre usando il nero ho disegnato delle linee su tutte le unghie per riprodurre i pezzi di un mosaico, praticamente ho incrociato linee senza seguire un ordine specifico. Poi ho riempito le forme con due colori accesi, alternandoli. Sulle altre unghie ho applicato uno smalto glitterato, ed è tutto, spero vi piaccia!

One product review september rose : slush palette

I’m not into neutral or brown palettes, I like cold shades and bright shades and it’s not easy to find these kind of palettes especially when warm and neutral shades are the latest trend. Luckily Instagram helped me out: I found an indie brand that launched a wonderful palette in July, the brand is called September rose cosmetics, it’s black owned and based in uk, this is their Instagram @shopseptemberrose . I couldn’t believe my eyes: a bright and colourful palette I can order from England? That’s awesome, I didn’t even have to worry about customs!

Let’s see how it’s described:  Get to live in colour! This palette consists of velvety smooth, vivid bright eye shadow shades . Each shade is named after a Slush flavour! Price 24.99 £.

What I like: I love the colourful packaging that immediately tells you what kind of palette it is, I get summer and fun vibes and that’s exactly how the palette could be described. There are 24 eyeshadows inside, no mirror and a plastic foil to protect them. The price is definitely fair, it’s not expensive for what you get and for the eyeshadows quality. There are pink, orange, green, blue and purple shades in matte and shimmery finish, I love the color range as it’s unique.  The shimmery shades are extremely buttery and pigmented, really beautiful and easy to work with! Matte shades aren’t powdery at all.  All eyeshadows don’t crease and don’t fade during the day, they stay in place all day. Mattes are easy to blend.

What I don’t like: The mattes are a bit dry and some shades aren’t super pigmented, they need to be built up little by little, but that’s not a big deal as many eyeshadows are like that. There isn’t a matte eyeshadow that can be used as browbone highlighter; coconut milk can be used as such but it is quite shimmery and not many people like using a shimmery eyeshadow under the browbone.

My verdict: I really like this palette and I’m sure I’m going to use it very often; it’s not expensive, quality is good, the color range is right up my alley, I hope they will launch more products soon!

Non amo le palette di colori neutri o di tonalità marroni, mi piacciono i colori freddi e intensi e non è facile trovare palette con queste caratteristiche, specialmente quando sono di tendenza colori caldi e neutri. Fortunatamente Instagram mi ha aiutato: ho scoperto un marchio indie che ha lanciato una bellissima palette in luglio, il marchio si chiama september Rose Cosmetics, è gestito da una ragazza di colore e si trova in Inghilterra, questo è il suo instagram @shopseptemberrose. Non riuscivo a credere alla mia fortuna: una palette di colori intensi che potevo ordinare dall’Inghilterra? Fantastico, non dovevo neanche preoccuparmi della dogana!

Vediamo come viene descritta: vivi a colori! Questa palette è composta da ombretti burrosi, morbidi, in tonalità intense. Ogni ombretto ha il nome di un gusto di un frullato. Prezzo 24.99 £.

Cosa mi piace: mi piace il packaging colorato che fa capire immediatamente di che tipo di palette si tratta, fa pensare all’estate e al divertimento, ed è proprio così che questa palette può essere descritta. All’interno troviamo 24 ombretti, non c’è uno specchio ma c’è una pellicola di plastica trasparente per protezione. Il prezzo è assolutamente equo, non è cara per la quantità di ombretti contenuti e per la loro qualità. Ci sono tonalità rosa, arancioni, verdi, blu e viola che hanno una finitura opaca e metallica, la gamma colori è decisamente unica.  Le tonalità metalliche sono molto morbide e pigmentate, bellissime e facili da usare! I colori opachi non sono assolutamente polverose.  Nessun ombretto si infila nelle pieghette o svanisce col passare delle ore, rimangono al loro posto tutto il giorno. I colori opachi si sfumano facilmente.

Cosa non mi piace: i colori opachi sono leggermente secchi e alcuni colori non sono pigmentatissimi, devono essere intensificati poco per volta, ma questo non lo considero un grosso problema dal momento che molti ombretti hanno questa caratteristica. Non c’è un ombretto opaco che possa essere usato come illuminante dell’arcata sopraccigliare; coconut milk può essere usato a questo scopo, ma è luminoso e a molte persone non piace usare ombretti con questa finitura sotto l’arcata sopraccigliare.

Il mio verdetto: mi piace molto questa palette e sono sicura che la userò molto spesso; non è costosa, è di buona qualità, la gamma colori è proprio quella che piace a me, e spero che presto proporranno altri prodotti!

Eye makeup look purple cut crease

I used cold pink shades for this look, and I started applying a frosty pink with silver shimmer in it all over my lid, shaping it like an almond and keeping it below the natural crease of my eye. In the crease I applied a matte purple grey eyeshadow, and I intensified it with a darker purple; I blended the edges with a fluffy brush and I defined the crease by adding more purple on a liner brush. I completed the look with a winged liner and some mascara, and that was it, I hope you like it!

Per questo look ho usato delle tonalità rosa fredde, e ho cominciato ad applicare un ombretto rosa perlato con riflessi argentati, dandogli la forma di una mandorla e mantenendomi sotto la naturale piega dell’occhio. Nella piega ho applicato un ombretto opaco viola con riflessi grigi, e l’ho intensificato aggiungendo un viola più intenso; ho sfumato i bordi con un pennello da sfumatura e ho definito meglio la piega aggiungendo ancora del viola con un pennello di precisione. Ho completato il look con una riga di eyeliner e del mascara, ed è tutto, spero vi piaccia!

It’s finally fall and it will be Christmas soon! Yes, there’s Halloween first but I’m looking forward to Christmas season, winter, cold weather, snow, snowflakes so I painted some of them on my nails and, when I look at them, I daydream of riding a sleigh and have a snowball fight!

I chose a vibrant dark blue as a background and I topped it with an iridescent glitter nail polish; when it was dry I painted white snowflakes in different shapes, I took inspiration from photos, and that was it, I hope you like it!

Finalmente siamo in autunno e presto sarà Natale! Sì, lo so che prima c’è Halloween ma io non vedo l’ora che arrivi il periodo natalizio, l’inverno, il freddo, la neve, i fiocchi di neve, così ne ho dipinti alcuni sulle unghie e, quando li guardo, sogno di andare sullo slittino e fare una battaglia di palle di neve!

Ho scelto un blu scuro intenso come colore di sfondo e ho aggiunto una passata di smalto con glitter iridescenti; una volta asciutto ho dipinto i fiocchi di neve in diverse forme, prendendo ispirazione da varie foto, ed è tutto, spero vi piaccia!

One product review L.A. Girl pro face hd matte pressed power

I’m always curious to try low cost products and see how they work on my skin, especially when it comes to foundation and face powder; La girl is an American brand not available in Italy, but you can purchase it on maquibeauty. Com without paying custom. I’m all for compact powder, I’ve heard good reviews on la girl, so I decided to try this one!

Let’s see how it’s described: Get a flawless finish with PRO.face Matte Pressed Powder. This long wearing, oil controlling formula can be applied alone for a soft radiant look or over liquid foundation for fuller coverage. Available in 15 mattifying shades. Price 8.00 $.

What I like: the color range is pretty wide for a low cost product, they have dark shades as well as light shades and I find that pretty impressive. It comes with a see through lid, my favorite, it’s not powdery, the texture is smooth and silky and it applies really well whether I use a face powder brush, a powder puff or a beauty blender. It doesn’t emphasize pores and fine lines, it evens out my skin tone and it makes me look like a porcelain doll but not cakey at all! It mattifies my makeup and it keeps it in place, it doesn’t get shiny for at least 4 hours, it doesn’t get cakey.  In summer I use it on its own as it’s suggested in its description and it smoothens out my skin while keeping shine at bay.

What I don’t like: unfortunately we can’t swatch it before buying it because they’re available only online, and it’s easy to pick the wrong shade. What I suggest is to google for swatches and check those on someone with your skin tone, this way you will see how it really looks.

My verdict: I have already repurchased it because it does what it says, it keeps shine at bay and, for the price point, is a really good face powder!

Uso molto le ciprie compatte, avevo letto tante recensioni positive su la girl, così ho deciso di provarne una!

Vediamo come viene descritta: ottieni una finitura impeccabile con la PRO.face Matte Pressed Powder. Questa formula a lunga tenuta e opacizzante può essere usata da sola per un look delicato e luminoso, oppure sopra un fondotinta liquido per una copertura totale. Disponibile in 15 tonalità opacizzanti. Prezzo 8.00 $.

Cosa mi piace: la gamma colori è piuttosto ampia per un prodotto low cost, ci sono tonalità scure così come quelle chiare, ne sono rimasta favorevolmente colpita. Ha un coperchio trasparente, che è quello che personalmente preferisco, non è polverosa,  la texture è fine e setosa e si applica bene sia che si usi un pennello viso, un piumino da cipria o una beauty blender. Non enfatizza pori e rughette, uniforma l’incarnato e dona al viso l’effetto bambola di porcellana senza, però, appesantirlo. Opacizza il trucco e lo tiene al suo posto, non  si lucida per almeno quattro ore e non diventa pastosa.  D’estate la uso da sola, come suggerito nella descrizione, mi leviga la pelle e tiene a bada la lucidità.

Cosa non mi piace: purtroppo non la si può provare prima di acquistarla perché è reperibile solo online, ed è facile scegliere il colore sbagliato. Consiglio di cercare swatches su google immagini e di prestare particolare attenzione a quelli fatti su carnagioni simili alla vostra, in questo modo capirete meglio quale tonalità sia adatta a voi.

Il mio verdetto: l’ho già ricomprata perché fa quello che promette, tiene a bada la lucidità e, per il prezzo che ha, è una buona cipria compatta!

Ladybug / coccinella nail art

I did a ladybug inspired nail art in the past but it’s been a while and I felt like trying a different pattern because I think it looks very cute! I painted my thumb, index and pinky with a red nail polish and I used a white nail polish on my middle and ring finger; on the red background I added black dots in two different sizes using a dotting tool, while on the white background I painted some small ladybugs: their body is a red circle, their head is a smaller black dot and I also placed some dots on their bodies, and that was it, I hope you like it!

Qualche tempo fa ho proposto una nail art ispirata alle coccinelle, ma è passato un bel po’ da allora e ho deciso di provare a realizzare un motivo diverso perché penso che sia molto carino! Ho usato uno smalto rosso sul pollice, indice e mignolo, mentre sul medio e sull’anulare ho applicato uno smalto bianco; sullo sfondo rosso ho realizzato dei pois neri di dimensione diversa usando un dotting tool, mentre sullo sfondo bianco ho disegnato delle piccole coccinelle: i loro corpi sono rappresentati da un cerchio rosso, la testa è un pallino nero di dimensione minore, e sul corpo ho disegnato dei pallini neri, ed è tutto, spero vi piaccia!

I bought my first Kat von D palette at last, I seriously couldn’t resist this one because it’s colourful and unique, and that’s what I was looking for, not another nude palette but a creative and fun palette!

Let’s see how it’s described: A new, limited-edition eyeshadow palette featuring 16 bold, blendable shades, and including original artwork designed by Kat Von D, in honor of the brand’s 10th Anniversary

Kat Von D spent months hand-drawing the original artwork featured on the front of this palette specially for this commemorative collection. This product is vegan and cruelty-free. Price 52.00 $- 50.00 €.

What I like: it’s a 16 pan palette featuring matte and metal shades in a range that goes from nudes to jewel tones, it’s definitely very versatile in my opinion. There are warm and cold shades, you can go for a warm eye makeup using the upper row, or you can go for a cold one using the lower row. It is a complete palette, there are transition shades, my favorite is the matte grey mauve, a color I don’t have and that’s saying something, there is a matte pale pink I use as browbone highlighter, there is a matte brown perfect to give more depth to the outer corner or for a smoky eye, and there are some gorgeous jewel tones! Mattes aren’t powdery, they are pigmented but they don’t apply patchy, the color pay off is good. Metal shades are buttery, pigmented, some are duochrome and they transfer really well on the lid. All shades don’t fade away during the day and they last all day long.

What I don’t like: matte shades need a bit of work to blend effortlessly, they do but they’re not the easiest eyeshadows to blend in my opinion. If you’re a beginner you might find them hard to work with. Apart from the matte lavender and some jewel shades you can find similar colors at a more affordable price, even though the quality might not be as good as this palette.

My verdict: could I live without it? Yes, I could. Would I repurchase it? Yes, I would! I like it and I think it’s a great palette for color lovers and makeup junkies like me!

Finalmente ho comprato la mia prima palette di kat von D, non sono riuscita a resistere a questa palette coloratissima e originale perché sono proprio le caratteristiche che stavo cercando, non un’altra palette neutra ma una palette divertente e creativa!

Vediamo come viene descritta: La palette di ombretti racchiude 16 colori intensi e ultra pigmentati, declinati nei finish mat, metallizzato e shimmer. I nomi delle tonalità si ispirano ai 10 testimonial della campagna. Per festeggiare il 10° anniversario della nascita del marchio, Kat ha scelto 10 volti, provenienti da vari orizzonti e che rappresentano le diverse sfaccettature di Kat Von D Beauty. Sono artisti, poeti e amanti della vita. Introversi o estroversi. Prezzo 52.00 $- 50.00 €.

Cosa mi piace: è una palette di sedici ombretti dalla finitura matte e metallica, con una gamma colori che va da toni neutri a toni brillanti e, secondo me, è molto versatile. Sono presenti toni caldi e toni freddi, usando la fila superiore si può optare per un trucco caldo mentre, scegliendo la fila inferiore, per uno freddo. È una palette completa, ci sono colori di transizione, il mio preferito è un matte grigio malva, colore che non avevo, e questo la dice lunga considerando i tanti ombretti in mio possesso, c’è un rosa molto chiaro opaco che uso come illuminante dell’arcata sopraccigliare, c’è un marrone bruciato opaco perfetto per dare profondità all’angolo esterno dell’occhio o per realizzare uno smokey eye, e ci sono dei bellissimi colori metallizzati! I colori opachi non sono polverosi, sono pigmentati ma non lasciano chiazze quando vengono applicati, la resa colore è ottima. Le tonalità metalliche hanno una consistenza burrosa, sono pigmentati, alcuni hanno delle cangianze particolari, si fissano bene sulla palpebra. I colori non sbiadiscono nell’arco della giornata e durano tutto il giorno.

Cosa non mi piace: per i colori matte ci vuole un po’ di pazienza se li si vuole sfumare bene; si sfumano ma non alla prima passata. Se siete alle prime armi potreste trovare qualche difficoltà. A parte il color lavanda opaco e alcune tonalità metalliche, i colori non sono unici, si trovano anche a prezzi più bassi, ma la qualità potrebbe non essere la stessa.

Il mio verdetto: ne potrei fare a meno? Sì. La ricomprerei? Sì! Mi piace e penso sia una valida palette per chi ama i colori e per le appassionate di makeup come me!

Eye make up look caramel and double liner

Today’s look is super simple and neutral and it’s amped up by the eyeliner wing. I applied my eyeshadow primer and I set it with a cream matte eyeshadow, then I used a fluffy blending brush to blend a light taupe in my crease, just to give some definition to my eye. I defuse the eyeshadow very well as I didn’t want a dramatic cut crease, and then I applied a chocolate brown eyeshadow in the lower half of my crease and in the outer corner of my eye. On my lid I chose a metallic gold pigment and in my lower lashline I traced a black line following the shape of my eye and I elongated it in the inner corner. I added a dramatic winged liner and I completed the look with mascara, and that was it, I hope you like it!

Il look di oggi è semplicissimo e neutro ed è reso particolare dalla linea di eyeliner. Ho applicato il primer occhi e l’ho fissato con un ombretto opaco color crema, poi ho usato un pennello da sfumatura per sfumare un color talpa chiaro nella piega, solo per definire meglio l’occhio. Ho sfumato l’ombretto molto bene dato che non volevo una cut crease drammatica, e poi ho aggiunto dell’ombretto marrone cioccolato nella metà inferiore della piega e nell’angolo esterno dell’occhio. Sulla palpebra mobile ho usato un pigmento metallico color oro e nella rima inferiore ho tracciato una linea seguendo la forma del mio occhio e l’ho allungata verso l’angolo interno. Ho aggiunto una riga di eyeliner molto spessa e ho completato il look con del mascara, ed è tutto, spero vi piaccia!
