Union Jack nail art

I’m joining +bubica vucko ’s project( here's the link to her post)  and I’m very happy to do that, it’s a very nice idea to share nail arts from all over the world, each one representing a country! As I already did an Italian nail art, not flag one but pizza one, this time I’m going for my adoption country, The united kingdom! I love it more than my native country, I’ve always felt at home there, it is my country there’s no doubt about it!

The union Jack, that’s how the flag is called, saw its origin in 1606 from the union of Scottish , English and Ireland flag as James VI of Scotland ruled after inheriting the crown of Scotland, England and Ireland, but the design as we know it was born in 1801 following a royal proclamation for the union of Great Britain and Ireland . The flag combines aspects of three older national flags: the red cross of St George for England and Wales, the white saltire of St Andrew for Scotland (which two were united in the first Union Flag), and the red saltire of St Patrick to represent Ireland.

Enough with history lesson, let’s nail art speak for itself! I added the Big Ben silhouette on my ring finger and on my thumb , painted with black and white acrylic paint. That’s all, and God save the Queen!

Sono entusiasta di partecipare al progetto di +bubica vucko  ( vi lascio il link al suo post), un’idea che mi è piaciuta molto: condividere nail arts da tutto il mondo, ognuna rappresentante la propria nazione! Dato che ho già fatto, di recente, una nail art ispirata all’italia, non con la bandiera ma con la pizza, questa volta ho deciso di proporne una dedicata alla mia nazione adottiva, la Gran bretagna! La amo di più del mio paese d’origine, mi sono sempre sentita a casa lì, ed è sicuramente il mio paese, senza ombra di dubbio!

La Union Jack, così si chiama la bandiera inglese, ha una storia molto antica: nel 1606 re James VI di Scozia acquisì la corona di Scozia, Inghilterra ed Irlanda e decretò che anche la bandiera dovesse subire delle modifiche; quella che non conosciamo oggi però, è nata nel 1801 a seguito di un decreto reale che sanciva l’unione di gran Bretagna ed Irlanda. La bandiera unisce le tre vecchie bandiere nazionali: la croce rossa di san Giorgio di Inghilterra e Galles, la croce di sant’andrea bianca di Sant’andrea di scozia( e queste due bandiere erano state già unite nella prima bandiera dell’Unione), e la croce rossa di san Patrizio a rappresentare l’Irlanda.

Basta con le lezioni di storia, lasciamo che sia la nail art a parlare! Ho aggiunto la silhouette del Big ben sul pollice e l’indice, realizzata con colori acrilici in bianco e nero. Questo è tutto, e che Dio salvi la Regina!
