today’s
product is one of my must have, I use it on a regular basis and I can’t think
of run out of it or going out without applying it: I’m talking about mattifying
powder, a life saver for oily skin!
I’m gonna
compare two of my favourites , I find these kind of post useful or at least I
hope it is! Let’s get started!
Urban decay
de-slick mattifying powder
How it's described:
This shine
stopping pressed powder blots oil and keeps shine at bay. The lavender shade
applies invisibly and works on every skin tone. Try it on naked skin or over

What I like
:
I like
pressed powders in general because it seems to me there’s a less amount of
wasting while applying them, and this one follow this rule; to me it looks
white in the pan, I don’t see any lavender shade, and when you put it on your
skin it’s transparent so it matches every skin tone. I also like the glowy
effect you’ll get, not sparkly at all, it’s like you’re under candle lights, it
defuses and minimizes any blemishes or tiny imperfections; it goes on smoothly
and it keeps shine at bay all day, it is very long lasting! You won’t look
cakey at all, the result is really natural, flawless and oil free, I guess
thanks to the super fine texture! Should I mention the packaging? It’s not
something I care about , but it looks awesome!
What I
don’t like:
As one of
the main ingredients is rice powder, and it works really great to keep your skin
shine free, when you pick it from the pan it is a bit powdery and there’s a bit
of fall out, nothing major, just a tiny bit, but you have to be careful and tap
off the excess not to apply too much on your skin and look like a japanese
doll. That’s the only fault I can find, apart from that it’s a top powder!
Mac prep
and prime transparent finishing powder
How it's described:
A silky
finishing powder that provides an invisible way to set makeup. Reduces shine
while optically minimizes the look of pores, lines, imperfections. Available in
one universal color that suits all shades. Wear over makeup or on bare,
moisturized skin. Price is 25.00 $ -19.00 €
What I like
:
This is a
loose powder and it comes in a jar with a sifter; I usually apply it with a
kabuki brush or a powder brush and I need just a tiny amount of it. I used it
both as base under my foundation and as face powder over my foundation, and it
works well both ways: when applied as base I noticed it keeps your skin shine
free a bit longer, it’s like it absorbs any oily excess from foundation as
well, and also it minimizes pores and fine lines. I adore it as a base! When
applied as face powder it does its job well and your skin will be shine free
for a good 6-7 hours, but it doesn’t minimizes pores as much as it does as a
base. It’s not cakey at all and your
skin looks healthy and natural, and flawless of course!
What I
don’t like:
I would
like it to last a bit longer, even though it’s long lasting, and also I don’t
think it minimizes pores that much when used as setting powder. Also when it is
about to finish and the jar is half empty it is quite hard to get the amount of
product you need out : I think it is because of sifter, even though it’s got
quite a lot of holes and they are big enough for powder to get through, but
that’s how it is and it’s happened to me with every jar . Be aware of flash
when taking pics because it will show and look white,it is not flash friendly!
My verdict:
They are
both top products in my opinion and I use them in different situation, the mac
one is more for an everyday look while the Urban Decay is perfect in the
evening and when I want my skin to resemble a porcelain doll, but if I have to
say which one is a step ahead I would go for Urban Decay de sleek mattifying
powder: it is great not only for shine free skin, but also to give an airbrush
finish to your skin, it lasts longer than mac one and it is pressed so there’s
no waste of product.

Il prodotto di oggi è uno dei miei must have, lo uso
regolarmente e non posso pensare di rimanerne senza o di uscire senza averlo
applicato: è la polvere opacizzante, un salvavita per le pelli grasse!
Farò un confronto fra due delle mie polveri preferite, credo
che questo tipo di post possa essere utile, o almeno lo spero! Cominciamo!
Urban Decay de-slick mattifying powder
Come viene descritta:
Una polvere compatta che assorbe l’eccesso di lucidità e
mantiene la pelle opaca. La tonalità lavanda risulta invisibile una volta
applicata, e va bene per ogni tipo di carnagione. Provatela sulla pelle non
truccata, oppure sopra il fondotinta. Poiché la sua formula contiene polvere di
riso super leggera ed efficace nell’assorbimento del sebo in eccesso, la
polvere non si vedrà, ne vedrete solo il risultato opacizzante. Prezzo 32.00$ -
26.00 €
Cosa mi piace:
In generale mi piacciono le polveri compatte perché mi
sembra che ci sia meno spreco di prodotto quando le si applica, e questa non fa
eccezione; a me sembra bianca, non riesco a vedere la tonalità lavanda, e una
volta applicata è completamente trasparente, per fondersi perfettamente con
qualsiasi carnagione. Mi piace l’effetto luminoso che si ottiene, assolutamente
non eccessivo, è come se foste illuminate da una candela, minimizza i pori,
attenua le rughette e le imperfezioni ; si applica con facilità ed è a lunga
durata! Il risultato è molto naturale, non eccessivo, totalmente opaco ed
omogeneo, credo grazie alla consistenza molto fine del prodotto. Devo citare la
confezione? Non le do molta importanza di solito, ma questa è veramente bella
ed elegante!
Cosa non mi piace:
Dal momento che la polvere di riso è uno degli ingredienti
principali, quando vi appoggiate il pennello è leggermente polverosa, niente di
eccessivo, solo un po’, ma bisogna stare attente ed eliminare l’eccesso dal
pennello, altrimenti se ne applica troppa e si corre il rischio di sembrare una
bambola giapponese! Questo è l’unico difetto che ha , non ne trovo altri,è un
ottimo prodotto!

Come viene descritta:
Una polvere setosa che fissa il makeup in maniera
invisibile. Riduce l’effetto lucido e minimizza i pori, le rughe d’espressione
e le piccole imperfezioni. Disponibile in un’unica tonalità che va bene per
ogni carnagione. Si può applicare come base o sopra il fondotinta. Prezzo 25.00 $ -19.00 €
Cosa mi piace:
È una polvere libera e la confezione si presenta con un
dosatore; io la applico di solito con un kabuki o con un pennello da cipria, e
ne basta pochissima. L’ho provata e la uso sia come base prima della stesura
del fondotinta che come polvere libera per fissare il trucco sopra il
fondotinta, e fa il suo lavoro in entrambe le circostanze. Ho notato che,
quando la si applica come base, l’effetto opacizzante dura leggermente più a
lungo, è come se assorbisse il sebo in eccesso e mantenesse il fondotinta
opaco, inoltre minimizza i pori e le piccole imperfezioni, devo dire che usata
come base la trovo perfetta! Quando la applico sopra il fondotinta invece, nonostante
mantenga la pelle opaca a lungo, per circa 6-7 ore, minimizza i pori un po’
meno. Non risulta pesante una volta applicata, il risultato è naturale ed
opaco!
Cosa non mi piace:
Mi piacerebbe che durasse più a lungo, anche se si può
definire a lunga durata, e inoltre ritengo che non minimizzi i pori in modo
sostanziale quando la uso come polvere fissante. Quando il prodotto sta per finire risulta
abbastanza difficile far uscire la quantità che vi serve : credo sia un
problema del dosatore, anche se i fori sembrano sufficientemente larghi e
numerosi, ma purtroppo ho riscontrato la stessa difficoltà con ogni confezione
che ho usato. Se volete fare foto con il flash non vi consiglio di usarla,
risulta bianca e l’effetto è il classico effetto “fantasma”!
Il mio verdetto:
sono entrambi ottimi prodotti che uso in occasioni diverse:
la polvere Mac, secondo me, è più adatta per tutti i giorni, mentre la Urban
Decay è perfetta per la sera e per quando voglio che la mia pelle sembri di
porcellana; se devo dare la preferenza ad una delle due, il mio voto va alla
Urban Decay de-sleek mattifying powder: non solo è un salvavita per le pelli
grasse, vi regala anche un risultato simile a quello del trucco airbrush, dura più
a lungo della polvere Mac e, essendo una polvere compatta, c’è meno spreco di
prodotto.
