Lipsticks smackdown: mac heroine vs mac violetta/ rossetti a confronto

When you are a lipstick lover like I am you might buy very similar shades without even knowing that till you get home and you compare them, I’m sure it happened to you at least once, it definitely happened to me and I told myself I should have waited before purchasing a product I liked , because the thing is I’ve got my favorites colors I always reach for, and it’s hard to find a unique purple lipstick when I own twenty already! I shouldn’t buy any , I got so many I sure don’t need more, but I do because I like them, that’s the truth!

I thought it might be useful to all of you who are thinking of buying one of these two lipstick to know how similar or how different they are, to choose wisely and not to buy them both just because you think they’re two totally different shades.

Mac heroine

What I like: I love the color, it’s unique, it’s an orchid purple not too dark nor too light, and it’s buildable: you’ll get a more natural effect with one coat , but you can intensify it with two or more coats. The texture is matte but it’s quite comfortable compared to other brands, at least on my lips it doesn’t feel too dry and it’s fairly easy to apply; it lasts really long, that’s one of the pros of matte texture, you can drink and eat without worrying of your lipstick , it won’t smudge and it won’t fade away, I love that! You can wear it without lip pencil if you like, you can be sure it will stay in place all day! Mac lipstick quality is on point, and this one hasn’t disappointed me at all!

What I don’t like : as much as the Mac matte formula is smooth compared to other brands, it’s still a matte lipstick and it doesn’t slide on your lips like a creamy one; the texture isn’t very velvety, it’s a bit on the dry side and your lips need to be smooth and moisturized to achieve an even application. It also makes any imperfection stand out, that’s why I suggest you to scrub your lips beforehand and to apply a lip balm.

Mac Violetta

What I like: Violetta is an amplified lipstick, which means it’s creamy and it goes on your lips very easily, you can apply it with your eyes closed basically, it goes on smoothly, it doesn’t emphasize any imperfections and you can wear it even if your lips are a bit dry; I love the subtle sheen amplified lipsticks have got, they make your lips look a bit fuller without looking too shiny, and violetta is no exception! As for lasting power, it’s absolutely good, it’s not as long lasting as matte lipsticks but it will stay on for a good 4-5 hours without fading, and that’s a great result in my opinion. The color is a deep orchid purple with a red undertone, according to your skin tone it will look brighter or more subdued, on myself it’s very vivid and I like it actually!

what I don’t like: it’s hard to find faults to Mac lipsticks, if I have to mention one I’ll go for the lasting power, which isn’t extremely long due to the shiny finish and creamy texture; on my lips it lasts 4-5 hours as I said, but I know it doesn’t on some of you, and it needs to be touched up after meals. As it’s a very bright and vibrant shade, when it fades it’s very noticeable and you can’t get away without reapplying it in my opinion.

Differences: the main difference is in the finish, one is a matte and the other one is an amplified, they perform in a completely different way and, depending on your personal preference, you might love one more than the other: I personally love matte finish more , because it’s not sticky, it’s long lasting, it’s low maintenance and I love the velvety finish on my lips, but some of you might like the amplified more because it doesn’t feel dry on their lips, it’s more comfortable , it’s easier to apply and it plump up lips a tiny bit.

Another difference I’ve noticed is in their colors: heroine has got a colder undertone, while violetta has got more red in it and it looks warmer and brighter, I think it’s more wearable and less unique, if you’re not used to purple lipsticks you might want to start with violetta to get used to bold lips.

Heroine lasts longer of course, so if you’re looking for a very long lasting lipstick Heroine is the one, even though Violetta has got a good lasting power compared to other cream lipsticks. I like them both, I reach for one or another depending on my makeup look, the occasion and my mood, I don’t regret buying them because they are similar but , in my opinion, they are very different in so many ways! For a purple lover like me it’s worth purchasing them both!

Se amate i rossetti come li amo io, avrete probabilmente acquistato colori simili e non ve ne siete rese conto fino a che non siete arrivate a casa e non li avete confrontati con quelli già in vostro possesso, credo vi sarà successo almeno una volta nella vita, a me è capitato e , in quei casi, mi sono detta che avrei dovuto aspettare prima di comprare, avrei dovuto essere certa di non avere già la stessa tonalità, ma il problema è che ci sono dei colori che mi attraggono, e inevitabilmente finisco per comprarli anche se, ovviamente , non ho necessità di aggiungere rossetti alla mia collezione, l’unico motivo per cui li acquisto è perché mi piacciono!

Ho pensato che avrebbe potuto essere utile mettere a confronto questi due rossetti per tutte coloro che stanno pensando di acquistarli, in modo da poter mettere in evidenza le loro similitudini e le loro differenze e capire se effettivamente li volete tutti e due o se solo uno fa al caso vostro!

Cosa mi piace: mi piace il colore, che è unico, lo definirei un viola orchidea modulabile, né troppo chiaro né troppo scuro:con una sola passata si ottiene un effetto più naturale, mentre con due o più passate il colore diventa più intenso. La finitura è opaca ma è abbastanza confortevole se paragonato ad altri marchi, a me non secca le labbra ed è facile da stendere; ha un’ottima durata, questo è uno dei pregi dei rossetti opachi, potete mangiare e bere senza preoccuparvi del rossetto, non sbaverà e non sbiadirà, a me piace molto! potete indossarlo anche senza matita labbra se preferite, rimarrà al proprio posto tutto il giorno! La qualità dei rossetti Mac è indiscutibile, e anche questa tonalità non mi ha deluso!

Cosa non mi piace: per quanto sia vero che i rossetti opachi di Mac abbiano un’ottima formulazione, parliamo comunque di un rossetto che non è cremoso e non scivola sulle labbra; la finitura non è particolarmente vellutata, è un po’ asciutto e le vostre labbra devono essere esfoliate e morbide, altrimenti sarà difficile stenderlo uniformemente. Enfatizza anche qualsiasi imperfezione abbiate, ecco perché è consigliabile usare un esfoliante labbra e idratarle con un buon balsamo prima di applicarlo. 

Mac Violetta

Cosa mi piace: Violetta è un rossetto amplified, il che vuol dire che è cremoso e si stende facilmente , scivola sulle labbra, praticamente potete applicarlo a occhi chiusi, l’applicazione è semplice e non enfatizza labbra secche o screpolate; mi piace la finitura leggermente lucida, che dà un leggero effetto rimpolpante alle labbra, che è una caratteristica degli amplified! Per quanto riguarda la durata, è decisamente buona, certo non raggiunge i livelli di durata di un rossetto opaco, ma su di me resiste almeno 4-5 ore senza sbiadire,e lo considero un buon risultato. Il colore è un viola orchidea intenso con un sottotono rosso, risulterà più o meno acceso a seconda del colore della vostra carnagione, su di me è molto brillante e mi piace parecchio!

Cosa non mi piace: è difficile trovare dei difetti ai rossetti Mac, se proprio devo citarne uno direi che non ha una durata eccelsa a causa della finitura lucida e della consistenza cremosa; su di me dura, come ho detto, circa 4-5 ore, ma so che su alcune di voi dura molto meno, non resiste ai pasti. Essendo un colore intenso e scuro, quando sbiadisce si nota molto, secondo me è impossibile non ritoccarlo se si vuole risultare curate.

Differenze: la differenza più evidente sta nella finitura, uno è un rossetto opaco e l’altro è un amplified, si comportano in modo totalmente diverso e, a seconda delle vostre preferenze, potreste amare uno piuttosto che l’altro: personalmente preferisco quello opaco, non è appiccicoso, ha una durata ottima, non serve ritoccarlo durante il giorno e adoro l’effetto vellutato che regala alle labbra, ma alcune di voi probabilmente preferiscono l’amplified perché non secca le labbra, è facile da stendere, è confortevole e dona un effetto leggermente rimpolpante.

Un’altra differenza che ho notato si trova nel colore: heroine ha un sottotono più freddo, mentre Violetta ha un sottotono caldo e c’è più rosso al suo interno, infatti risulta più brillante sulle labbra, in qualche modo è più portabile e meno particolare, se non siete abituate ad usare rossetti viola credo che iniziare con Violetta sia un buon modo per abituarvi a vedere le vostre labbra che risaltano , in contrasto con la vostra carnagione.

Heroine dura di più ovviamente, quindi se state cercando un rossetto dall’ottima durata è quello che fa al caso vostro,anche se Violetta ha una buona durata se paragonato ad altri rossetti cremosi. A me piacciono entrambi, scelgo l’uno o l’altro a seconda del trucco occhi, del mio umore e dell’occasione, non mi sono pentita di averli acquistati perché, se è vero che hanno delle similitudini, è altrettanto vero che le differenze sono maggiori! Per un’amante del viola come me, vale la pena averli tutti e due!
