January most played

hi fairies,
it’s the end of January and it’s time for my most played! Before starting I’ll leave you the link to GoldenVi0let’s blog, who created the most played tag, where you can find all the info to join us if you haven’t already!

This month I’ve tried a new foundation as I ran out of the one I was using, and I’ve opened Kiko mat mousse foundation, an oil free foundation that should suit combo to oily skin , and I’ve been liking it ! it’s got a thick consistency, but it’s not hard to apply, I use a flat brush but a beauty blender works just as well. I love the velvety and totally matte finish, it’s the mattest foundation I’ve ever tried , it mattifies like nothing else and it keeps my skin matte for 6-8 hours. It’s cold right now , I have to test it in summer, but I think it will hold up quite well when it’s hot as well. If you’ve got dry skin stay away from this product, because it will cling and emphasize any dry patches you might have. Price 12.90 £/€ for 30 ml.

january_most_Played_

Let’s move on to lips, and I want to mention l.a. girls lip tints, my new favorites along with nyx ones: they last all day on my lips, they don’t crack , they don’t set into fine lines, they don’t fade away leaving patches of colors behind them and they perform quite well after meals. They’re not particularly drying on my lips, but I’ve heard some people find them very drying so I guess it changes a lot , depending on your lips. Price 5.00 $- 5.49 €.

january_most_Played_

I love Nyx matte lipsticks as much as la girl ones, although the texture is different: they feel a little bit sticky, they’re more creamy and less drying , but that means they’re not as longlasting as a lip tint, they wear off after a meal and you’ll need to reapply them, but nonetheless I love them because they are very comfortable and perfect for when I go out for few hours. The shades I purchased are gorgeous, very natural and classy and they complement my skin tone really well! Price 7.90 €.

january_most_Played_

Last but not least it’s Mac foiled shadow Magic in your eyes, that came out with Mac Faerie whispers collection and, as you can imagine, I couldn’t miss it! It’s described as soft lilac but I would describe it as a charcoal grey with a lilac hue and silver micro glitter in it, the texture is creamy, it’s very pigmented, I haven’t experienced any fall out and the lasting power is top notch! I will write more about this limited edition soon, I bought quite a few items!

That’s it for this month, see you next month with more most played!

Ciao fatine,

January empties aka all good things come to an end

Hi fairies,
This month I finished so many products , I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened my empties box, it was so full it was bursting! I decided to go through them fast , else this post would be too long and boring, I won’t go into details of each one of them, but I’m not going to lie it’s going to be a long post anyway, so take a seat, grab a snack and a cup of coffee and let’s get started!

january_empties

I finished Mac set powder , I talked about it here , which is one of my favorite setting powder as it is fine and it doesn’t look cakey, it keeps shine at bay and it’s good a good quality price ratio; I gave it back with back to mac to get a lipstick so I just got the box left!
january_empties

This month I ran out of two The Body Shop body butters, I won’t spend time praising them because I do every single month , I love them both for their scents and for their texture;
january_empties

Another product you see often in my empties box is Kiko cleansing scrub, here you can read my full review, it’s one of my go to face scrubs because it’s not too aggressive on my skin but it does its job and my skin feels cleansed and clean;
january_empties

For my hair I’ve used the body shop rainforest coconut hair oil, here you can read my review , a rich and moisturizing oil that keeps frizziness at bay and  it helps my curls to feel and look bouncy and healthy. It might be too rich for straight hair though.
january_empties

This toner has been one of my staples for the last ten years or so, it’s the body shop tea tree skin clearing toner , formulated for oily skin : it smells of tea tree so, if you don’t like the smell, you won’t like this product neither. It works well for me, it feels refreshing and it gets rid of any makeup residues I might still have on my face after removing it.
january_empties

I used the body shop  Camomile silky cleansing oil for the first time, it removed my makeup but I didn’t like it because it left a greasy feeling on my skin , I had to use toner (which I do anyway) to get rid of it. I won’t repurchase it but I think you’ll love it if you have dry skin.

january_empties

Another the Body shop Camomile skin care product is the gentle eye makeup remover, here you can find my review, I won’t spend more words talking about it;

january_empties

A product I really love and I’ve already repurchased is Kiko universal fit hydrating foundation: it’s very cheap and, for this reason, I didn’t have any expectations, I bought it out of curiosity but I was so wrong! It’s a good everyday foundation, it provides medium coverage, it lasts all day, it doesn’t look cakey, it doesn’t feel heavy and, once it’s set with powder , it doesn’t look shiny. It’s not the best foundation for oily skin, I actually think I won’t be able to use it in summer, but it’s good in winter and it’s great for dry skin.

january_empties

I finished two mascaras this month, one is Kiko false lashes concentrate volume top coat mascara, that adds volume when added on top of your mascara, and Kiko divine reflections volume mascara 04 in black: at first I didn’t like because it was too liquid but, after a while, it reached the right consistency I really loved it, it gave volume and length! The only downside was it flaked a bit after several hours of wearing.

january_empties

The kiko shape and shimmer eyebrow and highlighter pencil is a great product in my opinion, especially the brow pencil which is a taupe color that matches my hair color,it allows me to fill in my brows easily as it’s small enough to be precise and , once it’s set, it lasts all day.
january_empties

My hand cream of the month has been Kiko hands and lips winter balm, a limited edition that isn’t available anymore : it’s a good hand cream , not greasy but quite moisturizing.
january_empties

I tried montagne jeunesse strawberry soufflé face mask, which wasn’t exactly the kind of mask I need the most as it’s a hydrating mask, but the smell was delicious and I also like the result, my skin was soft, smooth and firm! It’s not purifying but it’s nice to use a hydrating mask every now and then, even on oily skin!
january_empties

I finished two eyeliners, one is really old and it was from a kiko limited edition , and the other one is in the permanent line: I liked both, the old one has got a felt tip and it was of a dark green shade with a metallic finish, it did its job till the end, the applicator allowed to draw thin or thick lines without any effort, just like  the black one , which is a pen liner with a fine tip , very pigmented and easy to use.
january_empties

Here I talked about L’Oreal studio secret professional smoothing resurfacing primer, it’s not the first jar I use : it’s a smoothing primer with a silicon base, so if you don’t like these kind of products stay away from this one, it’s very effective at minimizing pores and at giving that blurred effect we all look for, but in my opinion it’s too expensive to be a drugstore product: it retails at 20 euros while the Porefessional retails at 30.00 euros and it lasts way longer, not to mention it feels way lighter than this one .
january_empties

This nail polish is really old, at least seven years old , and it worked fine till the last drop! China glaze is one of my favorite nail polish brands, quality is great!
january_empties

I finished the American white acrylic paint I use for nail art, it’s the best one I’ve ever tried, I stick to it! And I also finished a base coat and a top coat.
I’m so happy I finally got rid of the OCC concealer, I hated it so much! It’s so thick and creamy you only need a tiny bit of it, but it’s impossible to use it in your under eye area because it will add 20 years to your face as it sets into fine lines and it emphasizes them like no other! I used it on imperfections but it still emphasized my pores and it was too thick, I didn’t like it at all!

january_empties

That’s all for this month, we’ll see if next month my box will be as full as this month!

Italian version:

Ciao fatine,

january_empties

Questo mese ho finito due burri corpo di the body shop, su cui non mi dilungherò perché ve ne parlo ogni mese, mi piacciono molto sia per il profumo che per la consistenza;
january_empties

un altro prodotto che si trova spesso  nella mia scatola dei prodotti finiti è il cleansing scrub di Kiko, di cui potete leggere la mia recensione qui, che è uno dei miei scrub viso preferiti perché non è troppo aggressivo sulla mia pelle ma fa il suo lavoro e mi lascia la pelle pulita e purificata;

Potrebbe appesantire i capelli lisci.
january_empties

Un altro prodotto alla camomilla di the body shop che uso da tempo è lo struccante occhi delicato, di cui vi ho parlato qui e su cui non mi dilungo oltre;
january_empties

Pink winter fairy eye makeup

Hi fairies,
I was playing around with fuchsia and white eyeshadows the other day, because I wanted to achieve a cold tone look with a touch of color, wintry but not too wintry if we could say so, and that’s what I came up with: a dramatic eye makeup not suitable to run errands, more appropriate for a party or a night out! You could totally wear during day time, I do , it’s just a matter of personal preference, I think we should wear any colors we love, what matters is we feel comfortable in it , there’s no other rules to follow!
I cut my crease with a precision liner brush and a hot pink eyeshadow, following the natural shape of my eye and tracing the line just above my natural crease; I went down to the outer corner of my eye, achieving a rounded shape, and once I was happy with it I added color to intensify it and sharpen the cut crease. I applied a matte white eyeshadow all over my lid, and I patted a white eyeshadow with pink duochrome just in the middle ; in the lower lashline I smoked out the same fuchsia eyeshadow I used in my crease, and in the inner corner I applied an iridescent, sparkly powder, that resembles snow when the sun hits it. I lined my eyes with purple gel liner, I applied mascara, and that was it, I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

what's your favourite food? nail art

Hi fairies,
Today’s nail art is funny, definitely not everybody’s cup of tea, but you know I love crazy and unique nail arts and I love food themed ones, so this one is all of that and more! It’s colorful , bright and it will sure give your nails a lot of attention! You could pick just one of the subject I painted, we could say it’s a four nail arts in one!
I painted each nail with a different color: my index finger with a light baby pink, my middle finger with a sky blue, my ring finger and my thumb with a mint green and my pinkie with a red nail polish, and once my background was dry I went on and painted different kinds of food! On my index I painted cookies, by first shaping brown ovals, and then by outlining them in black and adding some dark brown dots for chocolate chips; on my middle finger I painted sushi : I first painted black circles and I filled them in with white leaving a thin black line at the border, and I added colorful dots in the middle; on my ring finger I painted pizza slices, that are  basically triangles I filled in with red and some white dots for mozzarella cheese; on my pinkie I painted fried eggs, by drawing irregular white shapes with a yellow dot in the middle, and on my thumb I painted a fork and knife, and that’s it, I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,
