New year's eve nail art

Hi fairies,
this my new year’s eve nail art, whether you celebrate at home with family and friends or at a club I think it’s nice and fun to paint your nails with a festive theme, isn’t it?
You can choose any background colors of your choice, what matters is it’s a dark one else it will be hard to see your nail art; I picked black and I added a glitter nail polish to let my nails sparkle as much as possible!
On my thumb and pinkie fingers I painted two glasses of champagne by drawing two lines and adding the oval shape on top ; I also half filled them with gold glitter to give the illusion there was champagne in them; on my ring finger I painted a black curved line in the middle of my nail, and I added a gold glittery line next to it; I painted clock numbers and I drew watch hands pointint at 23.55! it’s almost time to cheer , are you ready?!

Happy new year!

ciao fatine,

Buon anno!

acorns/ghiande nail art

Hi fairies,
I tried this wintery pattern today which wasn’t easy, but it didn’t turn out too bad, it’s just time consuming! I chose a sparkly brown background and, once it was dry, I randomly drew oak leaves with a cream paint. I tried to recreate their shape the best I could , I went back in with brown to fix my mistakes and make the shapes neater. I added some acorns in between the leaves, and that was it , I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

eye makeup nye look golden and lilac

Hi fairies,
I love gold and purple together, I think it’s a great color combo for holiday season if you love purple and you don’t want to go for the most popular combos; I applied a white creamy base to make eyeshadows pop, and then I chose a rose gold shimmery shadow to pat all over my lid. With a medium cold matte purple eyeshadow and a blending brush I started adding dimension to the look by buffing the color in my outer corner and a bit into the crease; I added a bit of light beige in the crease as a transition color and then I intensified the outer corner by applying the same purple with a pencil brush: that way the color pay off was more intense. In the inner corner I patted a silver eyeshadow and I chose a light blue in the waterline, I think it looked really nice with the look! I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

Cooking with Tinkles: Mince Pies for a Brit christmas

Hi fairies,
This recipe is one of my favorite of all time, it’s not Christmas for me if I don’t bake mince pies, they seriously smell like Christmas , they taste super delicious, they are addictive , it’s hard not to eat a ton of them!
I’ve first tasted them in UK, and since then I’ve always eaten them during holiday season, but I used to buy them at the grocery store; three years ago I found Laura Vitale’s recipe and I gave it a try, and I love how they turn out, so much so I now bake them every year! I changed her recipe just a bit, because I found the dough wasn’t enough for the filling, so basically I doubled the amount of each ingredient, and sometimes I have to make more because it’s not enough still. You’ll get about 20 mince pies with this recipe.
They’re sweet and spicy , here’s what you need for baking them:

For the dough:

3 cups of all purpose flour

10 tbsp of butter at room temperature

A pinch of salt

8 tbsp of sugar

Zest of one orange

Juice of an orange

cooking_recipe_mince_pies

The dough is super easy to do, all you need is a food processor: put the flour , salt and sugar in it and pulse till they’re well mixed; add butter cut in small cubes and pulse on till the dough size resembles the size of olives;  add the juice pulsing on until the dough comes together, and then let it rest in the fridge for 1-2 hours.

cooking_recipe_mince_pies

For the filling:

3 apples

Half cup of raisins

Half cup of dried cranberries

¾ cup of sugar

Zest and juice of one orange

Zest and juice of one lemon

Half cup of candied citrus peel

Half cup of dried plums

Half cup of dates

Half cup of dried apricots

Half cup of candied cherries

A splash of brandy

2tbsp of butter

Nutmeg

Cinnamon

In the oven for 20 minutes at 200°

cooking_recipe_mince_pies

The filling can be adjusted to your taste by adding or not adding what you like the most, for example you can add almonds, walnuts, dried ginger, dried pineapple and so on.
Put all the ingredients in a pan big enough and bring it to a boil. Let it simmer on medium heat for about 45 minutes, till they are soft and juicy.
Roll the dough adding flour if needed and cut out rounded shape that you’ll place in a muffin tin; fill each shape up with the filling and put them in the oven for 20 minutes at 200 °.

Warning: they’re addictive!

Ciao fatine,

Attenzione: creano dipendenza!

eye makeup look for new year's eve

Hi fairies,
This year my new year’s eve look is quite simple with a touch of glitter because you can’t start the new year without some sparkles! I used grey shades because they look good with my complexion, but you could choose warm tones if they suit you more, what matters is to keep the eye makeup soft with a bit of definition. I applied a matte beige eyeshadow in my crease as transition color and , with a tapered brush, I added a hazelnut eyeshadow in the outer corner to intensify my crease color; in the inner corner of my lid I applied a shimmery silver eyeshadow, followed by a medium grey in the middle of my lid and by a charcoal grey in the outer corner; I brought this last color up in the outer crease and I blended it very well, reapplying it till I got the color pay off I was looking for. Now for the fun part: first I lined my lashline with black liquid liner, and then I drew a second line on top using a glittery liner; I fixed my mistakes with black liquid liner, I applied mascara and that was it, I hope you like it! Happy new year!!

Ciao fatine,
Eye makeup look gold and blue smokey

Hi fairies,
With this look we’re going back to cold shades, which are my favorites, but there is a bit of gold to warm the whole look up and to add a festive touch to it, because Christmas is close and wearing gold is a must!
I started by applying a shimmery blue with a purple shimmer to it in my crease, concentrating it in the outer corner and dragging it toward the inner half of my crease. I used a beige eyeshadow along the edges of the blue to further blend it and create a nice transition toward my browbone. On my lid I used a gold eyeshadow, and in the inner corner of my eyes I applied a shimmery champagne eyeshadow. You can stop here if you like, but I added some iridescent glitters on my lid because I loooove to sparkle all year round, and most of all at Christmas! I completed the look with blue eyeliner and mascara, and that was it, I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

Hi fairies,
I’m a lip tint junkie and in the last year I’ve tried several new, for me, brands. I love some and I’m not so fond of some others, I will talk about them all here on my blog , hopefully you’ll find it helpful ! let’s start with a very popular brand on IG and youtube, L.A. girl: it’s an american low cost brand mostly popular because of lip tints, so obviously I went ahead and I first buy one of them, and now I’ve got four…that should tell you what I think about them!

Let’s see how they’re described: Blurring the lines between lipstick and lip gloss, Matte Pigment Gloss has already become a favorite of makeup artists, blogger and fans. These 16 bold shades provide rich, intense color in a flat finish for all day wear. The long wearing formula goes on as a high pigmented liquid and dries to a flat matte finish. Leaving lips colored in gorgeous velvety perfection that last and lasts. Cruelty free. Price 5.00 $ .

la_girl_lip_tint_matte_pigment_gloss

What I like : they come in a see through tube that allows you to know what color it is without opening it, a very useful quality when you own a lot of lipsticks! The applicator is a classic sponge one that allows to follow the shape of your lips quite easily, in my opinion the application is pretty effortless. The consistency is thin, just like any lip tints, not runny and , once they set, which takes few seconds, they turn into matte lip tints. They’re no transfer, quite comfortable altough they feel slightly tacky but that makes them comfortable and not too drying so to me it’s a pro. They’re very pigmented, I don’t need to layer them , I apply a thin layer and the result is even, they’re not streaky at all and they don’t crack. they’re very long lasting, they stay put even if you drink or eat, of course you have to pay a bit of attention while eating but other than that they’re awesome! The quality is good and the price is really low.

la_girl_lip_tint_matte_pigment_gloss

What I don’t like: it’s hard to find cons for these products, maybe the tacky feeling could be annoying for some people, but all in all they’re more comfortable than most lip tints; I feel I have to mention the smell, which is quite strong and chemical and definitely not pleasant, but once you apply them you won’t be able to feel it anymore so it’s no biggie. they can feel dry on the lips although it doesn't happen to me, but to be honest I own more comfortable lip tints so I guess they're too drying if your lips are already dry.

la_girl_lip_tint_matte_pigment_gloss

My verdict: they’re one of my favorite lip tints because they’re quite comfortable, very long lasting, easy to apply and not drying. They’re low cost but they perform like some expensive lip tints, I love the color range that goes from lovely nudes to vampy shades to make everyone happy!

la_girl_lip_tint_matte_pigment_gloss

Italian version:

ciao fatine,

Cruelty free. Prezzo 5.00 $.

la_girl_lip_tint_matte_pigment_gloss

Christmas tips : American haul Milani, Flower makeup and more!

Hi fairies,
we all got some makeup brands we’d love to try but we can’t find them in our country, haven’t we? I sure have few, especially American ones, that are hard to get because shipping fares are high and there’s the chance customs will add taxes, so it’s basically not worth ordering them. With European brands it’s different, customs isn’t a problem and I usually order them online, or I buy them when I travel: I always make sure to stop by at the local Sephora, Selfrifdges, Booths or any other makeup store available!
All the products I’m going to show you today came from the U.S. thanks to a special friend of mine who was so kind and sweet to buy them for me, I was so happy when I got them it’s hard to describe it! Let’s just say I was like a kid on Christmas morning!
christmas_tips_american_haul

Let’s start with Milani ultrafine liquid liners: it’s a felt tip liner in a bright and vivid turquoise sparkly shade, basically it’s got everything I ask for from a liquid liner! I love using colorful liners , they brighten up the simplest eye makeup and it’s fun to mix and match them with eyeshadow colors as well, I can’t wait to start playing around with it!

christmas_tips_american_haul

I’ve also got a Milani liquid like eyeliner pencil in a dark blue with shimmer to it, and this product is supposed to act like a liquid liner, it should have a shiny finish and , once it’s set, it should be very longlasting. I love the color and I’ll let you know if it does what it promises, I’ve got great expectations!
christmas_tips_american_haul

My love for glitters and shimmers is well known by my friends, that’s why she bought me two Milani runway eye shadows, nr 01 lily white and nr 05 girls luv pink! They are so sparkly, they look like stardust, like fairy dust more likely, and they’re just right up my alley! They will be great to add some shimmer to the lid on their own, for a quick makeup look with a winged liner and mascara, or as inner corner highlights, or as browbone highlights!
christmas_tips_american_haul

christmas_tips_american_haul

Let’s move to another brand I’ve heard about but I had no chance to buy in Europe, while some Milani products are available at online shops by the way, and it’s Flower, Drew Barrymore makeup line ! I’ve got a cream eyeshadow in a light purple shade with a slight frosty finish and a  green and golden duochrome to it in my opinion, a lovely color I’m excited to try out, and I’ve also got a cream blush: it’s an intense coral shade , completely matte , very summery and pigmented, I need a tiny bit of it as I’m very pale, and l think it would look great on darker complexions as well!
christmas_tips_american_haul

christmas_tips_american_haul

Next products are Maybelline vivid lipsticks, I’ve been wanting them for ages and eventually I got them in my hands! She bought me three of them, in the colors I love the most: Nr 905 brazen berry, nr 895 on fire red and nr 865 fuchsia flash, I love them all! They are creamy and easy to apply but they’re not too soft and they don’t smudge at all, the texture is smooth and coverage is good after just one coat! Once they set they last really long, quality is great! I have to test them properly still, once I have I will write a full review on them!
christmas_tips_american_haul

christmas_tips_american_haul

christmas_tips_american_haul

There were two nail polishes among my goodies, because she knows I’m a nail polish addict( someone could say I’ve got a real addiction but that’s not true at all!)  and I love sparkly ones, so she went to a nice shop she knows and she got me these two beauties! I’ve already tried this brand and I love how unique nail polishes are, and these ones made no exception: one has got dolphins and stars glitters inside, while the other one has got butterflies in it, they’re adorable!
christmas_tips_american_haul

For a classic and sultry smoky eye the Milani runway eyes fashion shadow palette is perfect, shades go from a shimmery white to a deep charcoal grey, and they’re all extremely pigmented and velvety, I was impressed when I swatched them! Unfortunately one row got broken but I’ve fixed it and I’m going to use it,they are too beautiful not to!
christmas_tips_american_haul

That’s it for my haul, did you like what I got? Have you tried any of these brands?

Italian version:

Ciao fatine,
