July most played

Hi fairies,
I’m back with my most played of the month at last! I’ll leave you the link to GoldenVi0let’s blog, who created the tag, where you’ll find all the info to join the team most played if you haven’t already!
It’s been so hot in July and when it’s so hot I don’t feel like doing a full face makeup because I sweat and nothing lasts all day , so I’ve gone for lighter coverage face products and a simpler eye makeup. My must have for my face has been TheBalm Sexy Mama face powder, I’ve talked about it here: I’ve been used it for a couple of years and it’s perfect for my skin type when it’s muggy and I need a very mattyfing product. It keeps shine at bay basically all day , it doesn’t look cakey and it doesn’t feel heavy at all.

july_most_played

Keeping my eyes simple allows me to play with colourful mascaras such as kiko pop mascaras from the last year beach babe collection: I add them for a pop of color, and I have to say they volumize and they add some length, they’re actually good mascaras in my opinion!
july_most_played

Since I’ve bought the kiko contour set at christmas I’ve been obsessed with contour! This kit is almost gone, but I got two ready to be tried, so I’m not worried about finishing it. I add a light contour even when it’s very hot because it does make a lot of difference, I love how chiselled my cheeks look! This kit was not expensive and it works great as far as I’m concerned, I hope Kiko will add something similar to the permanent line.
july_most_played

For my lips I’ve been loving L.A. splash lip tints in Athena, Rose Garden and Latte, three different shades of nude , each one of them with its own personality. They’re comfortable and long lasting and I really love these shades because they’re not the usual nudes, they’re unique and classy!
july_most_played

That’s it for this month, see you next month with more most played!

Ciao fatine,

Eye makeup look red and lilac

Hi fairies,
What about matching red and lilac? It might seem an odd match, but all in all it worked quite well in my opinion; it’s glamorous and dramatic, and sparkly too, basically it’s my kind of makeup!
I started by applying a sparkly red eyeshadow on two thirds of my lid, not overlapping my crease and patting it on to get a good color pay off, and then I added a lilac eyeshadow in the outer corner and in the crease. At first I applied it with a pencil brush because I wanted the color to be quite defined, and with light shades it’s not always easy to get the color pay off that you’re looking for when you use a fluffy brush; I just defused the edges with a blending brush because I didn’t want any harsh line. I blended the red into the lilac to create a nice gradient, I applied a cream pigment with multicolor glitters as my browbone highlighter, and I completed the look with a winged liner and mascara, and that’s it, I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

One product review petit jardin hand cream honey and propolis/ miele e propoli

Hi fairies,
Today I want to talk to you about a hand cream I had the chance to try, it’s bio , cruelty free and it’s been sent to me by Petit Jardin, an Italian brand born in 2009, here you can see everything I got , that has been growing since then .

Let’s see how it’s described: regenerating hand treatment with honey and propolis . give your hands a timeless beauty. Formulated with natural ingredients. It’s got a polyfunctional structure that makes it very effective and results will be visible pretty soon: your hands will be soft, smooth and regenerated. Thanks to the soft and velvety texture the honey and propolis hand cream gets absorbed fast, it’s not greasy and it feels very comfortable on your skin.
Shea butter makes it very moisturizing, and it gives your skin nourishment and protection. sweet almond oil nourishes and soothes skin, helping with redness. Apricot oil , rich in essential saturated fats and vitamin E , helps protecting the skin and creating a barrier against cold and wind, and it’s combined with vegetal ingredients so that its action is even stronger. Propolis extract reduces redness and irritations , while honey provides nourishment and treats your skin with gentle protection. Price 21.00 € for 50 ml.

One product review petit jardin hand cream honey and propolis/ miele

What I like: I love the glass bottle with a pump, it’s easy to get the right amount of product out, it’s very hygienic, there’s no waste of cream and the glass bottles allows you to keep an eye on how much product is left. The fragrance is delicate, typical of bio products, it will suit even those very sensitive to smells and it’s really nice and fresh; it’s got the right texture, not too liquid , which I don’t like it because it’s very easy for me to spill it everywhere, nor too thick, it’s easy to rub on your hands and it gets absorbed fast . it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling , it’s perfect to use during the day without worrying about leaving greasy fingerprints all over the place, but it moisturizes for quite a long time and you don’t need to reapply it every ten minutes, at least on my skin type , which is normal. I used it in summer and I found it great because of the lightweight texture it’s got, I hate to get sticky hands when it’s hot and muggy, and I was very happy to find out this cream suits my needs completely!

One product review petit jardin hand cream honey and propolis/ miele
What I don’t like: as I just said I find it perfect when it’s hot, and for my needs it’s good in winter as well as I never get very dry hands, redness or tiny cuts, so I don’t need an extremely rich and thick cream , but I don’t think it would be nourishing enough if your hands are as I just described: you might need a thicker hand cream to protect them from cold and wind and to help them healing when they’re red and rough. I’m not going to lie, it’s quite expensive, and I don’t know if I would buy it if I didn’t receive it from the company; quality is high, also all ingredients are bio , natural and cruelty free and if you’re careful to these kind of things you won’t be disappointed, but let’s be honest, not everybody can afford it.

My verdict: I like it because it’s very moisturizing but not sticky at all and I can use it during the day , it keeps my skin smooth and velvety without the need of reapplying it often; it’s not the best packaging to carry around as it’s a glass bottle, but nonetheless it’s perfect to use at home while doing chores or whenever you feel the need to moisturize your skin. It’s a bit expensive but I recommend it if you love bio and natural products, and if you don’t need deep hydration for your hands.

Ciao fatine,
One product review petit jardin hand cream honey and propolis/ miele

One product review petit jardin hand cream honey and propolis/ miele

Tinkles' book corner: a year and a day/ un anno e un giorno by Anna Castelli

Hi fairies,
I’ve never talked about books on my blog but there’s a first time for everything and this book is special to me , that’s why I decided to write a post about it! Let me tell you something about myself you probably don’t know : I’m a bookworm, I’ve always loved reading and I always will. In the last couple of years I haven’t read as many books as I used to because ..life happens, but I hope to get back on track soon!
The book we’re talking about is called “ A year and a day” by Anna Castelli, an Italian writer who an art historian who graduated in Eastern languages and Literatures with a thesis about kabuki theatre. She’s always loved Venice and she’s fought for the conservation of its historical and artistic heritage in the way that comes natural to her: she writes novels about the city.
This novel isn’t about Venice though , it’s about two long time friends, Giulia and Simone, invited to a Celtic wedding in Nemi; during the trip their friendship will take an unexpected turn , they will get to know sides of one another they were unaware of.
If you love Celtic traditions and you’re fascinated by their culture you will love this short novel and you will read it in one day! It’s the perfect beach read, it’s well written and you won’t be able to put it down because you will be curious to know what Giulia and Simone are up to!
You’re probably wondering why this book is special to me..well, it is because I translated it ! I would be very happy if you buy it , you won’t be disappointed I promise you!

Here you can find it :

Ciao fatine,

my wish list at newchic.com

Purple Prom Dresses
Hi fairies,
I’m going on vacation in the next few weeks and I’m putting my luggage together! It’s not always easy, at least for me, to find clothes I like at a reasonable price, it’s hard to find nice clothes without spending a fortune! When I’m on vacation I like to wear comfortable clothes but they have to be girly, romantic and floaty…I know, I’m picky!

One of my favorite online shop to buy clothes is newchic, here you can find my first haul where you can see how good their clothes and shoes look! Quality price ratio is great, I’ve been impressed by how well made they are, so I wrote down a wish list for summer and I thought it would be nice to share it with you!
Here’s what I picked:

it’s a linen dress with a lace decoration around sleeves and chest, and I think it’s really cute on its own, to go to the beach for example, and it would look great with jeans or leggings to go shopping in the afternoon!click here to see it

the second dress I picked is a white, floaty dress I really love! It’s definitely my style, I would match it with a pair of jewel sandals, a statement necklace and I’ll be  good to go for an evening walk at the pier!

this dress is similar to the white one but it’s sleeveless and I love how it’s cut, it’s not the usual long floaty dress with no personality, it’s unique! click here to see it

I was just looking for a crossbody bag and I think I’ve found the perfect one: I like paisley and I love the pastel shades this one has, perfect for spring and summer! click here to see it

I’ve fallen in love with this loafers, they’re lovely, comfortable and fun to wear, the flowers embroidery looks adorable, I can’t choose just one color I’d love to pick at least two! click here to buy them

You can get 20% off of your purchase by using the coupon code ARRIANA

What do you think of my wishlist? What kind of clothes do you wear in summer?

Cjao fatine,

eye makeup bright and bold blue

Hi fairies,
today I played around with my favorite colors and I came up with a very cold and colorful makeup look that I love !
I started by applying a bright purple eyeshadow in the outer and inner corner of my eyes , and I connected them with whatever left on the brush, dragging the color in my crease; I added some purple when needed, and I blended it out with a blending brush. In the middle of my lid I placed a matte baby blue eyeshadow and I intensified the edges with a sky blue eyeshadow, that helped me getting a seamless gradient from purple to baby blue. In my crease I applied a hot pink eyeshadow all around the edges of purple, I then applied a vanilla eyeshadow as my browbone highlighter, and I completed the look with mascara and a winged liner, and that’s it, I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

One product review l’oreal infallible the super slim liquid liner

Hi fairies,
Today I want to talk to you about a felt tip liner I used a lot last year, and I was thinking of repurchasing it but I haven’t yet, anyway I don’t want to anticipate my opinion too much, it’s better to first read how it’s described: Enjoy flawlessly clean lines as precise as .4 mm with L'Oreal's The Super Slim by Infallible Never Fail. The ultra-fine felt tip gives you total control, delivering the perfect amount of liner. The intense quick dry 12 hour formula glides on smoothly with continuous and even flow. In one stroke create sleek and sophisticated eyes. Price 12.00 €.

photo from www.makeupalley.com

What I like : when I first swatched it at the shop I was impressed at how thin , neat and black the line was, so impressed that I ended up purchasing it! I love liquid liners with brush applicator the most, in my opinion they are the only ones that allow total control on any line thickness , they are very precise and the result is neat and graphic, but I don’t mind using felt tip liners every now and then, a softer line sometimes goes better with certain looks. I love the tip of this liner because it’s very thin at the end and it’s not too soft, it doesn’t bend when you put it on your lids, and it’s quite easy to draw very thin lines as well as thicker ones. It’s great for beginners because you don’t need great skills to achieve a perfect winged liner, it does all the job by itself basically! The color is a deep black, it’s not patchy or uneven like other tip liners, I like how dark this one is! It lasts all day on myself , even though it’s not waterproof, but it never smudged, not even when it was muggy, I would say it’s long lasting. I also like how slim it is, it’s easy to handle and comfortable to keep in your hands.

What I don’t like : compared to other felt tip liners I tried it doesn’t run out fast but, unfortunately, it’s got the same issue most products of this kind have : the color gets less and less intense the more you use it and the more you get close to use all of it, so you’ll reach a point where you won’t be able to achieve a neat and dark line anymore, which sucks! I waste a bit of product because when it’s faded away I don’t use it anymore even if there’s still some inside the pen.

My verdict: I like it more than most felt tip liners when it comes to tip, lasting power and control you’ve got over the thickness of the lines you’re drawing, so I recommend it if you love these kind of liners. It’s got cons like most felt tip liners but, as I said, they’re not as bad as many others, all in all it’s a good product!

Italian version:

Ciao fatine,

photo from www.ulta.com
