April empties aka all good things come to an end

Hi fairies,
it’s the end of the month and it is time to open my empties box and see how many products I ran out of!

There is a The Body Shop body butter, this one is the  Brazilian nut one, it’s got a delicate but delicious smell that reminds me of sweet butter or butter cookies, highly addictive! It’s very moisturizing, it’s not very thick and it gets absorbed fast! You can be sure you’ll find at least one body butter in my empties box, if you placed a bet on it you would win, I’ve been using them for years and I will never get tired of them!

For my hair this month I chose the The Body Shop monoi miracle oil, you can read my full review here , one of the best hair oil I’ve ever tried: first of all it smells amazing, it reminds me of a tropical island covered in flowers, second of all it’s very moisturizing and it protects my hair from heat and damage, it keeps frizz at bay, my hair looks shiny, detangling is a piece of cake if you apply this product, it’s awesome! If your hair doesn’t need deep conditioning it might be too heavy when used as a leave in oil , the way I use it, but you could apply it as pre shampoo treatment, I’m sure you’ll love how soft and shiny your hair will be!

I also used the wild argan solid oil for hair and body, and I absolutely love this product! A little goes a long way, so it’s not expensive in the long run, I apply a dime size on my ends and it nourishes them , it keeps them from splitting, it makes my curls bouncy and defined, it’s a must have! I obviously repurchased it already!

My night cream in april has been another staple of mine , the body shop Vitamin E moisture lotion SPF 15, here you can read my review, a cream formulated for dry and mature skin that is a bit too rich for me, but it works well as a night cream. I apply a little amount of it and I massage my skin till it’s completely absorbed, I have to be careful not to apply too much of it else I break out. If you’ve got dry skin you’re going to love it, it nourishes without being greasy nor sticky.

I had to get rid of this hot pink nail polish because it’s too gloppy to be used, it was quite old to be honest,  and it was almost gone anyway, even if it looks full in the photos I swear it was empty, I think some got stuck and it looks like there’s still nail polish inside. I love this shade, it’s a creamy hot pink, I already repurchased it. Sinful Colors nail polishes have got a good quality price ratio in my opinion, even though some shades are quite sheer and don’t apply evenly, but all in all I like them, especially creamy ones.

I know you were waiting to see my shea butter jar, and here it is : this one is by Flora, it’s 100 % pure shea butter, but the texture was flaky and it didn’t apply evenly, I wasted quite a lot of product because of that. It wasn’t related to temperature , the texture stayed the same with cold warm weather, I don’t know if it was just my jar or it’s the texture it’ supposed to have; this is not the first time I buy it , but it’s the first time I get a flaky one.

My go to top coat is Kiko 3 in 1 shine fortifying base and top coat, I’ve been using it for more than two years and it works really well for me , it performs just like more expensive ones, that’s why I keep repurchasing it!

I use sunblock all year round, I apply it before applying my makeup as part of my morning routine, and whenever Kiko got sales on sunblocks I stock them up! I got no complaints about them , I read some people experienced break out but I don’t, they are actually my favourite because they get absorbed fast, they’re not sticky, they’re scent free and they’re not expensive.

I love colorful eyeliners, I use them often, and Kiko super color ones are a great way to try different shades without spending a fortune! I love some shades, like number 107 and 106, but the pearly ones are not as pigmented as matte ones, they’re very liquid and sheer, like this purple one; I used it anyway, but I wouldn’t repurchase it.

My face mask of the month has been Montagne Jeunesse green tea peel off, a delicate mask that cleanse without irritating; I like using it but I have to alternate it with purifying masks, this one is not enough for my skin.

I used some samples , these are Petit jardin anti cellulite cream and a shower gel; I liked the anti cellulite cream because it wasn’t a heating one: I hate the burning feeling , that’s why l don’t buy them, but I could buy this one because there’s no after effect at all!

That’s it for this month, see you next month with more empties!

Ciao fatine,

April most played

Hi fairies,
Here we are with our monthly appointment dedicated to my most played products! Before starting l’ll link you to the team most played creator’s blog, Goldenvi0let, where you can find all the info you need to join in if you haven’t already!

This month I went a bit crazy with lipsticks, because I realized I own so many and I need to use some of them more, I don’t want to stick to my favourites and neglect the rest: there are actually some pretty good ones I seldom wear, so I put them on my vanity and I used them more this month!
The first one I really love is Mac Violetta, a shade just right up my alley, a gorgeous purple orchid that brightens up my complexion! It’s not a boring color, it’s very springy, it matches neutral looks as well as pink , purple and grey makeup looks, and as you probably know these are the shades I reach for the most! It’s an amplified, the texture is creamy , it’s easy to apply , it doesn’t smudge and it feels very comfortable, not drying at all.

Another favourite of mine is Mac All Fired up, a red with a touch of fuchsia in it: it is a retromatte, my favorite finish, it looks so velvety on the lips, I love that, it makes me feel like an old fashioned diva! If you’re not familiar with retromatte you should know they are very dry and a bit difficult to apply evenly, due to their texture. I don’t have any issues with them, but I haven’t got dry lips, that’s why they feel comfortable and they don’t look patchy , they also don’t set into fine lines and they don’t bleed at all. They are so long lasting you won’t believe it, they’re the most long lasting lipsticks I’ve ever tried!

When I wanted to keep my lips neutral, I picked Kiko velvet mat number 611 : here you can read my full review on these lipsticks, they are high quality and they’re not expensive, quality price ratio is good and, in my opinion, they are better than some high end lipsticks I’ve  bought ; the texture is creamy, the application is very simple, and once they set they turn into matte lipsticks, but they still feel comfortable and they don’t dry your lips!

I’ve also used a Kiko top coat mascara, the false lashes concentrate one: I’ve been repurchasing for such a long time, because it really thickens my lashes , they appear fuller and longer, it does make a difference on my lashes, I always use it even in combo with high end mascaras, and I have to say it gives them a nice boost!

Last products of the month are Sugarpill loose pigments, I love them because they are very pigmented, the color pay off is amazing, they’ve got so many iridescences to them, they look unique and they stand out on their own: if you want to go for a quick makeup look you can definitely apply a bit of your favourite color on your lid, blend it out, and you’re good to go!

That’s it for this month, see you next month with more most played!

Ciao fatine,

Eye makeup look lime and raspberry

Hi fairies,
Can you feel the spring, it’s all around us, trees are in bloom, birds are chirping, flowers have started blossoming, different fruits are available! I definitely can feel it , and I chose two bright colors for this look, because when spring starts I crave vibrant colors both for makeup and for clothes!
l started by applying a neon pink in my crease using a pencil brush, that allows me to have more control on color placing; I drew a c shape and I kept blending and adding color till l was satisfied with the result. With a lighter pink and a fluffy bush I softened the edges of the neon pink, to create a nice gradient; with a small fluffy brush I added a matte purple in the outer corner of my crease, to add depth to the look. On my lid I applied a bright lime green, and in my outer corner I placed a shimmery black eyeshadow and I blended it very well where the two colors met. I completed the look with a purple winged liner and mascara, and that’s it, I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

One product revew : The Balm Bahama Mama

Hi fairies,
It’s spring, sun is shining, flowers are blossoming, it’s nice to spend a day outdoor, having a walk, relaxing, sitting outside a café with some friends and get a subtle tan!  our makeup has changed according to the season, we reach for pastel colors, one of the trends of this season, we also apply a bit more bronzer to get that sunkissed look , and today I want to talk about a bronzer I received a couple of months ago, Bahama Mama by the balm!
Let’s see how it’s described: Finally, a Caribbean getaway in a compact! This matte bronzer creates the look of beautifully tanned skin without any orange undertones for a fresh-off-the-beach glow. Bahama Mama also doubles as the perfect contour powder and matte brown eyeshadow. Yes, this tropical beauty keeps busy! Price 20.00 $ for 7.08 g/ 0.25 oz

What I like : it’s a medium brown with a cold under tone that makes it perfect for contouring, and it’s also not too dark for my skin color, which is very pale; it’s not easy to find the right contour product, some are too orangey, some are too dark and some are too light, but I think I’ve found mine! To be honest with you I’m not a contouring pro nor I contour every day, one of the main reasons being I haven’t found my holy grail bronzer, but this could change now that I’ve got Bahama Mama! I achieve a natural look with it, it adds just a touch of color as if I spent an afternoon outdoor and I really love it, because I’m so pale some bronzers just make me look patchy and too dark. The finish is matte but it’s got a nice, subtle glow to it,barely noticeable. It’s very longlasting, it doesn’t fade during the day and it doesn’t get streaky. It’s extremely easy to blend and you need a small amount of it, therefore it will last forever!  I love the compact packaging typical of the brand, that comes with a quite large mirror , very helpful for touch ups. Quality price ratio is really good, especially if we compare it with high end brands bronzers that don’t perform better than this one. Why paying more for the same result?

What I don’t like: although it works great for my complexion, it might be too light for darker complexions , I wish they added more shades for a wider range and to appeal more customers ; I also love the cardboard packaging and I’ve never experienced any issues with it, other products I had didn’t break but I wouldn’t complain if it was a bit sturdier. It’s not a big issue , it’s actually quite good as I said, but I have to find some faults to this awesome bronzer!

My verdict: I suggest it to fair and medium skin tones as a contour powder, it’s matte, it’s got a cold undertone, it’s easy to use and blend even if you’re not a pro, it’s longlasting, it can be used as eyeshadow as well, I love it and I’m going to repurchased it once I run out of it!

Ciao fatine,
