September empties aka all good things come to an end

Hi fairies,
This month I haven’t got many empties unfortunately, and that’s a pity because I thought I would, but I’ve got lots of products that seem to be endless! They are almost empty and everyday I think it’s time to get rid of them, but product still comes out and I keep using them, does it happen to you as well? Hopefully they will all be part of next month’s empties, for now let’s see what I ran out of in September!

let’s start with skin care: I ran out of Kiko intensive hand balm , a hand cream I like and I already repurchased, it’s not greasy but it’s very moisturizing, I like it and I’ll write a review on it soon!

I’ve also finished the body shop Vitamin E eye contour cream, a light cream that gets absorbed fast and nourishes your under eye area without being sticky nor greasy. I’ve repurchased it so many times and I will again, right now I’m trying a kiko eye contour cream and so far I like it! The vitamin E line is for mature skin and it might be too heavy for young people with oily skin, it’s very moisturizing and I remember I broke out a lot when I first used it, when I was 20 years old. Now it’s alright even though the night cream is still too heavy for my skin type.

Unfortunately I ran out of all my Elicina samples, and I’m very sad about it because this cream really works, it helps with scars and spots, it keeps your skin toned and tensed, it hydrates it without being greasy, it gives a slight filling effect and it gives your skin a healthy and glowy look I love! I have to buy a full size jar, it’s in my wish list!

I tried my first mountagne jeunesse face mask , and it was a green tea peel off mask I used twice: you apply it evenly on your face and you wait till it gets dry, and then you peel it off. My skin looked radiant and cleansed afterwards, it minimizes pores and gets rid of impurities, it’s not too strong though, I didn’t have any redness or irritations, it’s a good mask and I want to try more! Right now I’ve got the apricot scrub one to try, I’ll let you know if I like that one too!

One of my favourite summer products is Kiko shimmering body oil SPF 10, I recently wrote a review about it, it’s a dry oil with a golden shimmer to it that is perfect when it’s hot because it’s not oily at all, it’s fast absorbing and it gives your skin such a nice glow! I feel it’s moisturizing on my skin, maybe it’s not enough for very dry skin, but it’s such a nice product to add sparkles to your body! I love it and I stocked it up!

I ran out of the body shop shea oil that I use on my hair mostly, mixed with other oils for deep conditioning or on its own to seal my ends. There are different type of oils available at the body shop, and shea oil is one of my favourite oil for hair care, because it keeps my hair shiny and frizz free without being heavy.

Let’s move on to makeup, and even though I haven’t finished many products, I have to say I’m really happy with those I’m getting rid of because they were part of my 10 pan project and I couldn’t wait to throw them away! First one is l’oreal nude magique bb powder: I don’t like it at all, it’s very dry and it’s hard to get enough product on your brush, I struggled till the end to use it; it gets into pores making them look huge, it’s supposed to be a skin corrector but it doesn’t do anything for me, it mattifies a bit but it’s not long lasting, definitely a flop and I won’t repurchase it again!

a good mattifying powder is Urban Decay desleek one, it works well, it minimizes pores, it gives your skin a porcelain doll look, it keeps my skin matte for 6-7 hours, it doesn’t look cakey, it is a good product! At first I thought it was the best mattifying powder ever, but after trying some more I’ve changed my mind; it’s a good one and I might buy it again, but it’s not the best one ever.

I have to throw away Maybelline eyestudio lasting drama gel liner because it’s too dry to use it , there is a bit of product left still, but I can’t draw an even line anymore with it. I’ve bought it at least two years ago, I think it lasted quite long; I like it as gel liner, even though it can’t compete with mac fluidline or mac chromaline.

Next product is an essie nail polish, in st barth’s blue, I’ve got it for 6 or 7 years and there is just a tiny bit left, but last time I used it it had a really strong smell and it was gloppy and hard to layer on my nails, which means it’s time to throw it away! It was a nice icy blue shade but I’ve got many similar ones and it won’t be missed, it did its job!

Last product is a package of coop makeup wipes, they are full of product and they work really well, I use them to wipe away fall out and I already repurchased them!

That’s it for this month, see you next month with more empties!

Ciao fatine,

September most played

Hi fairies,
Here we are with another most played post, yes it’s the end of the month already and we are getting ready for autumn! September has been quite warm, so most products I’ve used are summery, hopefully there will be a change from next month! Golden Vi0let is the creator of the team most played, here you can find all the info you need to join in if you haven’t already!

Let’s start with the product I’ve used the most and I’ve been more happy with the whole summer, sexy mama by the balm: it’s the most mattifying powder I’ve ever tried, it hasn’t failed even when it was very hot and humid, it’s extremely long lasting, it doesn’t look cakey and I love it! It’s got faults of course, it’s not perfect, but I still love it and I can’t go without it in summer! I’ll soon post a full review on it!

I’ve also used Benefit benetint as blush, and I’m not a fan of this product, I think it’s not worth the hype, but I’ve got a mini size that came with a set and I want to use it all, I don’t like wasting products. It’s not bad, it’s just nothing special, not very pigmented, and it’s way too expensive in my opinion.

I’ve started using Kiko colour shock cream eye shadow as eye liner, and I have to say it’s the best way to use it! I don’t like them as base , I use them though because I’ve learned how much product I need ( a small amount) , but I prefer other products as eye shadow base. I love these ones as eyeliner, they are waterproof, pigmented and long lasting!

I’ve used my Urban Decay electric palette so much this summer! It’s one of the best purchases of this year, I’m really happy with it and I would repurchase it another million times! Here you can read my full review on it, colors are extremely pigmented and very easy to blend, shades are unique and you can create so many different makeup looks with them , it’s an amazing palette if you love bright shades!

Last makeup product of the month is Kiko daring game ace of diamond lipstick: I’ve got three of them but I took photo of just one , anyway I love these new lipsticks , they’re described as demi matte and they’ve got a smooth texture that makes application easy and they feel very comfortable and they don’t’ dry your lips; colors are full and pigmented , color pay off is great and I love the velvety finish, they make your lips look fuller! They stay on beautifully , they don’t smudge and I totally recommend them!

Last product is the body shop Fijian water lotus eau de toilette, sent it as press sample and a product I’ve been really impressed with: I thought I wouldn’t like the scent much because I love sweet and fruity ones, while this one is a fresh and marine scents and I don’t usually reach for those , but I have to say it’s been my summer fragrance! It’s so fresh and relaxing, not too strong , not overwhelming, very nice and breezy! I’ll definitely repurchase it next summer!

That’s it for my monthly most played, I’ll go check others'!

Ciao fatine,

Come eyeliner invece, funzionano bene , sono molto pigmentati, resistenti all’acqua e a lunga durata!

one product review : Stila palette Wonderful in Waikiki nr 04

Hi fairies,
Today I’m going give you my opinion about a nice and small palette I recently purchased because it was on sale and it seemed to me it was perfect to take with me for a weekend out or for a short trip; it is the Stila wonderful in Waikiki palette, and it’s the first Stila product I’ve bought! It was a limited edition that Stila has put out again this year, and I couldn’t miss it this time!
Let’s see how it’s described: The Stila Girls are back and this year they are heading to the beach! Introducing the limited edition Stila Girl Beach Palettes - follow the five Stila girls as they travel across North America and get five complete looks. This cute, collectable palette includes:

Four Eye Shadows:
- Wahine
- Sarong
- Coconut
- Surf

Cheek Color:
- North Shore
Highlighter/Bronzer:
- Hanauma Bay

Each Stila Girl Beach Palette also comes with a mirror and facechart.Price around 13.00 €

What I like: I love the packaging: it is compact, about the same size of an iphone, it fits in your handbag and there will be lot of room available, it’s not heavy and there’s a very summery print on the front, with a hawaaian girl dancing on the beach! The concept behind it is to have beach and sea colors in one palette, and I think it’s a very good combo!  As I said, I think it’s perfect for holidays, when we don’t want to take too much makeup with us: we’ve got a bronzer and a blush plus four eyeshadows , all in one! When you open it, there’s a mirror to the left, with a nice quote on top saying” with every rising sun, think of your life as just begun”- anonymous
The eye shadows allow you to create a natural bronzy look, perfect for every day and lovely with a bit of tan, but there’s also surf, which is my favourite color and basically the reason why I bought it, that is a bright, matte, true turquoise, very pigmented and buttery, easy to blend ; it can be used on its own , all over the lid, for a pop of color, or you could match with sarong and coconut for a colorful smoky eye, and I like that they added a bright color like this one: it makes the palette not boring at all and not completely neutral. Surf is the less buttery of all four, I think because the other three have got a satin finish, but it’s quite pigmented for a matte eye shadow. The other three colors are more pigmented and a bit easier to blend. I always use an eye primer and a color base before applying any eyeshadows, and these are quite long lasting when applied on top of a primer. I think sarong and coconut don’t show up much on dark complexions, but I’m very fair and they show up nicely.
The blush is very pigmented , and it’s a nice peachy color , with a bit of gold shimmer that doesn’t show up much once you apply it,it’s easy to apply and to blend and it doesn’t look patchy at all.

What I don’t like: let’s talk about the bronzer:  I’ve been using it as a blush because it’s too orange for my taste. As you can see from my swatch it’s brighter than the blush and it’s in the same range of color, so I like it as a blush but I can’t see myself using it for contouring, it would look ridiculous! If you’re going on vacation you will have to add another bronzer to your makeup bag, at least I would. As I was saying, I think eye shadows won’t show up much on dark complexions, they’re quite light , but they look good on fair skin. I don’t know how they perform without a primer, I got the impression they wouldn’t last all day.

My verdict: it is a good bargain, it’s not expensive and you’ll get four eyeshadows, a bronzer and a blush of decent quality, I think I would repurchase it because eye shadow colors are perfect for summer, and even if they’re not super pigmented they look nice, they give your eyes a nice sparkle. In summer sheer colors look really good , and anyway you just have to use a color base to get the best out of them!

Italian version:

Ciao fatine,
