one product review : Stila palette Wonderful in Waikiki nr 04

Today I’m going give you my opinion about a nice and small palette I recently purchased because it was on sale and it seemed to me it was perfect to take with me for a weekend out or for a short trip; it is the Stila wonderful in Waikiki palette, and it’s the first Stila product I’ve bought! It was a limited edition that Stila has put out again this year, and I couldn’t miss it this time!

What I like: I love the packaging: it is compact, about the same size of an iphone, it fits in your handbag and there will be lot of room available, it’s not heavy and there’s a very summery print on the front, with a hawaaian girl dancing on the beach! The concept behind it is to have beach and sea colors in one palette, and I think it’s a very good combo!  As I said, I think it’s perfect for holidays, when we don’t want to take too much makeup with us: we’ve got a bronzer and a blush plus four eyeshadows , all in one! When you open it, there’s a mirror to the left, with a nice quote on top saying” with every rising sun, think of your life as just begun”- anonymous

The eye shadows allow you to create a natural bronzy look, perfect for every day and lovely with a bit of tan, but there’s also surf, which is my favourite color and basically the reason why I bought it, that is a bright, matte, true turquoise, very pigmented and buttery, easy to blend ; it can be used on its own , all over the lid, for a pop of color, or you could match with sarong and coconut for a colorful smoky eye, and I like that they added a bright color like this one: it makes the palette not boring at all and not completely neutral. Surf is the less buttery of all four, I think because the other three have got a satin finish, but it’s quite pigmented for a matte eye shadow. The other three colors are more pigmented and a bit easier to blend. I always use an eye primer and a color base before applying any eyeshadows, and these are quite long lasting when applied on top of a primer. I think sarong and coconut don’t show up much on dark complexions, but I’m very fair and they show up nicely.

The blush is very pigmented , and it’s a nice peachy color , with a bit of gold shimmer that doesn’t show up much once you apply it,it’s easy to apply and to blend and it doesn’t look patchy at all.

What I don’t like: let’s talk about the bronzer:  I’ve been using it as a blush because it’s too orange for my taste. As you can see from my swatch it’s brighter than the blush and it’s in the same range of color, so I like it as a blush but I can’t see myself using it for contouring, it would look ridiculous! If you’re going on vacation you will have to add another bronzer to your makeup bag, at least I would. As I was saying, I think eye shadows won’t show up much on dark complexions, they’re quite light , but they look good on fair skin. I don’t know how they perform without a primer, I got the impression they wouldn’t last all day.

My verdict: it is a good bargain, it’s not expensive and you’ll get four eyeshadows, a bronzer and a blush of decent quality, I think I would repurchase it because eye shadow colors are perfect for summer, and even if they’re not super pigmented they look nice, they give your eyes a nice sparkle. In summer sheer colors look really good , and anyway you just have to use a color base to get the best out of them!

Oggi voglio parlarvi di una palette piccola e carina che ho comprato da poco approfittando dei saldi, e che mi è sembrata perfetta da portare per un weekend o una vacanza breve; è la palette di Stila wonderful in Waikiki, il primo prodotto di questa marca che compro!è un’edizione limitata che Stila ha riproposto quest’anno,e  non potevo lasciarmela sfuggire!

Vediamo come viene descritta: le ragazze Stila sono tornate e quest’anno vanno in spiaggia! Ogni palette ha uno specchietto e uno schema per realizzare trucchi. Prezzo di circa 13.00 €

Cosa mi piace: mi piace molto la confezione, piccola e compatta, grande più e meno quanto un iphone, perfetta da mettere in borsetta senza ingombrare o appesantire, infatti è in cartone ed è molto leggera, non occupa spazio; sul davanti c’è una stampa estiva, con una ragazza hawaiana che balla sulla spiaggia! L’idea che hanno avuto è stata quella di mettere insieme i colori della spiaggia e del mare nella palette, e devo dire che , secondo me, è un’idea indovinata!la trovo perfetta per le vacanze, quando non vogliamo portare troppi prodotti in valigia: in questa palette abbiamo quattro ombretti, un blush ed un bronzer, tutto in uno! C’è anche uno specchietto all’interno, sulla sinistra , sormontato dalla frase” vivi la vita come se cominciasse ogni volta che sorge il sole”- anonimo

Gli ombretti permettono di realizzare un look luminoso sui toni del bronzo, perfetto per tutti i giorni sulla pelle abbronzata, ma non dimentichiamo surf, il mio preferito e praticamente la ragione per cui ho deciso di comprare la palette, ed è un bel turchese intenso, pigmentato, opaco e facile da sfumare; si può usare da solo, sulla palpebra mobile ben sfumato, oppure abbinato a sarong e coconut per uno smoky eye colorato; il fatto di aver aggiunto un colore freddo e vivace mi ha conquistato, perché ha reso la palette non noiosa e non del tutto neutra. Surf è quello dalla consistenza un po’ più dura dei quattro, ma credo che dipenda dalla finitura opaca, mentre gli altri sono satinati , ma è comunque abbastanza scrivente per essere un ombretto opaco. Gli altri tre sono più setosi e più facili da sfumare. Io uso sempre un primer occhi e una base colorata prima di applicare qualsiasi ombretto, e questi hanno una buona durata se usati con queste accortezze. Credo che sarong e coconut rendano meglio su una carnagione chiara piuttosto che su una scura, perché sono colori piuttosto delicati.

Il blush è molto pigmentato, di una bella tonalità pesca, con qualche particella dorata all’interno che però non si vede una volta applicato; si sfuma facilmente e in modo uniforme.

Cosa non mi piace: parliamo del bronzer: lo sto usando come blush perché è troppo arancione per i miei gusti. Come potete vedere dalla foto , il colore è più intenso e pigmentato rispetto al blush, ma la tonalità è più o meno la stessa, ed io non lo vedo adatto per contornare e dare profondità al viso, ma come blush mi piace. Se volete portare la palette con voi in vacanza vi suggerisco di aggiungere un bronzer, almeno io lo aggiungerei.

Come stavo dicendo poco fa, credo che gli ombretti risaltino poco sulle carnagioni scure, forse non sono i colori più indicati per loro. Non so se senza primer durano a lungo, la mia impressione è che abbiano una durata media.

Il mio verdetto: è un buon affare, non costa molto e vi offre quattro ombretti, un blush e un bronzer di media qualità, io la ricomprerei perché gli ombretti sono perfetti per l’estate, e anche non sono super scriventi regalano luminosità allo sguardo. In estate poi, anche dei colori leggermente trasparenti hanno il loro fascino, e comunque se applicate una base colorata questi ombretti daranno il meglio di sé!
