March most played

Hi fairies,
here we are with another most played post, where I can show you some new products along with old ones; Before starting l’ll link you to the team most played creator’s blog, Goldenvi0let, where you can find all the info you need to join in if you haven’t already!

Let’s start with two of my Kiko infinity customized palettes : here you can read my review on these eyeshadows , they are my favourite when it comes to low cost brands, quality price ratio is amazing, they come in almost 100 different shades and finishes, they are very pigmented, easy to blend and long lasting! They’re a bit powdery , not more than more expensive brands though, and they’re totally worth it, you should try them if haven’t already! There are different size palettes, you can start with a three pans one or you could go for 9 or 24 pans like I did, it’s up to you, it’s fun to mix and match ! I use these eyeshadows every single day, I can’t live without them!

Next one is a product I hated at first, because it was completely different from what I expected, and it’s the obsessive compulsive cosmetics tinted moisturizer: when I first swatched it I was shocked at how lightweight and light coverage it was, and I thought I would never use it, but a tinted moisturizer can’t be full coverage, the whole point of using such a product is to achieve a very light coverage! I experimented with it because I’m stubborn and I didn’t want to throw 25 € away, and I actually, and unexpectedly, love it for everyday makeup when I don’t want to sport a too polished look; I set it with Mac setting powder or with Too Faced cocoa powder foundation and it looks good, natural , it evens out my skin , it doesn’t get shiny , it’s a good product and I think I’m going to use it often in summer! I’ll write a full review soon.

Speaking of Too Faced cocoa powder, I’ve used it a lot this month as well, as setting powder mostly, but also on its own as foundation: it’s got a silky texture, it doesn’t set into pores, it smells delicious, it lasts all day and it keeps shine at bay, it’s buildable and coverage is medium to full, it’s a bit expensive but it’s worth every penny in my opinion.

As a face primer , on an everyday basis, I’ve been using sephora anti shine primer, I wrote a full review here: it goes great with the tinted moisturizer and it keeps my skin matte, it doesn’t minimize pores and fine lines, but then again it’s great when I have to run errands and I go for a more natural look.

Another must have for my base is the obsessive compulsive cosmetics concealer in the shade Y0, the lightest one with a yellow undertone: I’m going to write a full review on this product, I can tell you I really like it because it’s very creamy and easy to blend but it doesn’t look cakey and it doesn’t smudge nor move during the day; a little goes a long way and I really mean it, you need the tiniest amount of it , it’s very rich and pigmented but as I said it’s not hard to work with, it doesn’t set into fine lines much, it’s become one of my favourite concealers!

I’ve been trying to finish this Kiko highlighter because it’s really old, and when I hit pan I was super happy! Now I’m a bit sad though, because I love it and I don’t want to run out of it, it was a limited edition and it’s not available anymore; it’s very sparkly with a light dash of pink to it , it looks gorgeous , I hope Kiko will come up with a similar one in one of their limited editions!

That’s it for this month, see you next month with more most played!

Ciao fatine,

Mac Haul l.e. lightness of being aka diary of a shopaholic

Hi fairies,
Today I’m going to show you what I bought when the Mac lightness of being limited edition came out, soon after holiday season; when I saw the advert I immediately loved it and I checked Mac online shop all excited, and the reason why I like the collection so much is the main theme is pastel colors, cool shades and shimmery finish, basically everything I love wrapped up in a limited edition! I rarely feel the need of buying limited edition items just for the sake of it, most of the time I skip them because I already own similar colors and I don’t want to end up with lots of dupes, but once in a while something magical happens , we could say it’s love at first sight! I love bright and vibrant colors really much, but I also love good pastel shades, shades that are actually pigmented, easy to blend and not chalky, and Mac lightness of being collection has got all these qualities.

Are you curious to find out what I bought? Let’s start with mac mineralize skin finish in lightscapade, a gorgeous highlighter that came out in the past with another collection, but it’s now glammed up with a new pattern and a color a bit different from the original one; needless to say I love the pattern, it reminds me of cozy winter sweaters, and I also love the silky texture and the color itself, which is a cold gold shade with a slight metallic finish to it! I didn’t have any Mac highlighters , that’s my excuse for buying it! Price 30.00 € for 10 g. 0.35 US oz.

My attention got caught by the mineralize eyeshadows available and, as I have never tried any of these kind of eyeshadows, I decided it was the right time to do so! I picked a shade called Just Breathe, a grayish blue with a shimmery finish to it; actually the pan is half shimmery and half frost , and both shades look beautiful and glowy! I don’t know about the color pay off and lasting power, I’ll let you know how it performs. Price 23.00 € for 1.8 g / 0.6 US oz.

Another new product, for me, is the mineralize rich lipstick: there are five shades available in this collection, and I went for a pale baby pink called Be Fabolous! These lipsticks are described as very moisturizing, comfortable to wear, and the color should be buildable. When I swatched it I immediately noticed how creamy it was, it must be really comfortable on the lips, at the same time it’s not too soft and I don’t think it will smudge but I’ll let you know when I write a full review. I love the shade, it’s my go to , very girly, sweet, romantic and ethereal, I think it’s going to be one of my most used lipstick this spring! Price 25.00 € for 3.6 g / 0.12 US oz.

Last item I bought is a nail polish, there are two shades available, both nude , and I chose the one called modern movement which is an egg shell color I’d say, or a skin color if you prefer, with a subtle hint of lavender,  it’s very classy and bonne mine, it’s a creamy nail polish, it’s easy to apply, it’s not streaky and coverage is quite good for such a light shade! Price  10.00 € for 0.34 US oz.

Did you buy anything off of this collection? Do you like pastel shades? I hope you enjoyed my shopping as much as I did, see you at my next haul!

Ciao fatine,

Prezzo 30.00 € per 10 g. 0.35 US oz.

Prezzo 23.00 € per 1.8 g / 0.6 US oz.

Prezzo 25.00 € per 3.6 g / 0.12 US oz.

Prezzo 10.00 € per 0.34 US oz.

March empties aka all good things come to an end aka samples galore

Hi fairies,
it’s time to open my empties box and see what we find inside, are you ready? Let’s start!

I was under the impression of not having run out of many products, but when I checked I realized there were quite a few, the first one is the body shop body butter in glazed apple, one of the Christmas limited edition fragrances: it’s a nice, crispy , granny smith apple smell that I like, but I prefer the sparkly ginger way more, and I’m still sad they replaced it with glazed apple , I hope they’re going to change their mind next year. As for the butter itself, it’s very moisturizing, it gets absorbed fast, it’s not greasy and it’s not too thick, I love it!

I ran out of the body shop tea tree skin clearing toner, formulated for oily skin, one of my favourite tonic because it leaves a fresh feeling on my skin, it gets rid of any makeup with just a wipe, it’s not oily, it’s not greasy and it doesn’t have to be rinsed off. It’s been part of my skin care routine for years and I have no intention to replace it!

This month I tried Kiko cleansing pure gel for the first time and I think it’s a great product for dry and sensitive skin as it’s very delicate, there aren’t micrograins in it, it’s a transparent gel that cleanse your skin without being aggressive. It’s a bit too delicate for my skin type though, I have to use a scrub along with it, else my skin breaks out way more often than it does when I use oily skin specific products.

Another product I tried for the first time is Kiko punk seduction body butter, that came out with the Punk Couture limited edition and I bought it because it looked very classy in its tin case with a tiny sponge applicator, I couldn’t resist it!  I’ll write a full review on it soon, but I actually was disappointed because it lasted not more than one week, and it was tricky to apply, it’s got a thick consistency and I used the sponge to pick it, but it took a while to get absorbed. It’s not worth it, it was quite expensive especially if you think it lasted just few days!

A product I always use on my heels, elbows , for my hair care and after epilation , is the shea butter, and this month I ran out of the I Provenzali one, a 100% pure shea butter I always repurchase because it’s a good one, it’s scent free and a little goes a long way.

I use soap bars when I shower, and I opened up a sweet violet one by Nesti Dante, one of my favourite brands: it’s got a very subtle scent, it’s not aggressive and it doesn’t dry my skin, it makes a nice and soft foam and it’s quite inexpensive, I usually buy different scents and I stock them up when I can!

as I said I have to scrub my face to keep shine at bay and to prevent break outs, so this month I used some Petit Jardin samples that are actually really good: it’s a face scrub that cleanse the skin without irritating it, there are microbeads in it but it feels gentle on the skin , I really like it!

I tried a Clarins extra firming day cream sample as a night cream, it lasted one week or so and it was good, nothing to write home about it but I couldn’t test it enough to know if it works; it did its job even though I didn’t feel my skin firmer or more toned.

I opened another Montagne Jeunesse mask, the white chocolate one, and I totally loved it! It smells just like white chocolate, you apply it on your cleansed skin and let it sit for 20 minutes, and then you rinse it with warm water; your skin feels cleansed, pores are unclogged and minimized , and at the same time you’ll feel your skin moisturized! I’m going to repurchase it for sure!

Another sample I ran out of is Garnier miracle skin cream, and it was another not bad cream, but then again it’s hard to tell if it does what it’s supposed to when you’ve got just a sample.

More samples, yes I know, I’ve been trying to use them because I’ve got a huge box filled with them: the Petit Jardin face cream for men is very thick and rich, definitely not a good choice for oily skin, but it works well after shaving when the skin needs extra nourishing, it’s perfect for men actually!
The green energy organics fresh cream cleanser is a lightweight gel that removes makeup easily, it actually gives a cool feeling to the skin, it’s delicate but effective and I’d like to try the full size of this product; the guam deep moisturizing anti wrinkle day cream is way too heavy for my skin, it didn’t get absorbed no matter how much I tried, but I think it would be great for more mature skin or for very dry skin. It’s not thick but it is very concentrated and hydrating.

Last three samples are by Fatti a mano, here you can read my haul post, they are three body creams and my favourite was shea butter, orange and cinnamon one, it smelled delicious, it had the right consistency, my skin felt soft and moisturized but not oily at all; I found the  other two nice and both very moisturizing, I think I might place an order to get more of them!

That’s it for this month, see you next month with more empties!

Ciao fatine,
