For those of you who’re not familiar with Swedish midsommar I’ve thought it would be nice to give you a short inside look : midsommar is probably the most famous and awaited time of the year in Sweden, and it’s the summer solstice celebration; Swedish people celebrate the whole week even though the main celebration takes place on Friday. It’s a family gathering, it’s fun especially for children that love to dance and sing around the maypole. Yes, a maypole is raised and it’s covered by flowers and grass. That is the center of the festivity as people dance around it; people also make flower crowns (midsommar krans) and wear them while dancing. There’s traditional food, it’s usually the beginning of summer and weather is really nice, and spending a day out is something we’ve longed for for a while. If you plan to go to Sweden l suggest you to go on Midsommar, you won’t regret it!
